If your child was hurt by another child to the point of ripped clothing and bleeding hands and knees, what would happen? Would the parents be rang, punishment etc. Child was hurt while waiting in line not through play or sport.

As I mentioned the other parent claims no knowledge of the incident whereas I was told straight away. This is not playground gossip but direct parent to parent contact.

Claiming no knowledge doesn't mean they necessarily have no knowledge of it...

True enough Calamity but I can only take their word for it.

Why didn't you get an accident/injury form home? My DD comes home with these even if she just has a little pink bruise on her leg!

School sounds lax to me!

DD2 was involved in an incident where one child with known serious behaviour issues had a meltdown in the lunch queue and slapped her food tray upwards so she was covered in food and hot gravy. It was taken very seriously - I was called at once, the other child's parents were called in to take him home (DD saw him being picked up). I didn't want to know what other consequences there would be, but DD was taken care of - clean uniform and cold pack provided, one to one time with trusted teacher to talk about it and be comforted. DD had reddened skin on her chest for 24 hours, not serious but painful.

There have been incidents since and the family are receiving support - their circumstances are difficult and I feel a lot of sympathy for them, I feel the school has the balance right.

Bumps Mine does too. I must have a good drawerful handful of little p bumped his head whilst playing cold compress applied. Grazed right knee. Wet wipe and plaster. Same with DD once had one that said 'walked into a wall' (she was busy chatting to her friend and wasn't looking where she was going) Grin. I know it sounds a bit over cautious but I would rather them be that than lax about it.

The school knew about the incident and didn't do anything?
I would be concerned.

DS (also 10) was involved in an incident recently where he was bitten by a girl. It didn't break the skin, but left a mark.
I was called at the end of the school day to explain situation & the girl involved got a red card (mark against her school record & detention) and her parents had to go in to discuss. The school didn't tell me that btw - the Mum of the girl did.

Isn't 10 the age of criminal responsibility?
