To think I need to get in to the "21st Century" and stop watching reruns of "Hitman and Her" and Top of the Pops from 1978 on You Tube.

I just cant stop watching "Hitman and Her" and Top of the Pops from the 1970s and early 1980s.. Is this because there is nothing to watch , or a sign of "Desperation" that my life has got worse since 1990.....

Oooooh is The Hitman & Her on Youtube? Excellent news. I used to stay up and watch it before I was old enough to do proper clubbing. Can't wait to revisit the 'no trainers and smart trousers, lads' days.

It is definitely a consequence of there being nothing to watch, soul. Not many programmes from 2014 could compete with live 1989 footage from Mr Smiths, Warrington.

YABU.

Popular music is shite these days- as evidenced by Ms. Perry and her insistence that warbling the same word over and over with little or no attempt at a melody constitutes a song.

Oh I LOVE watching TOTP from the 70's ! except its hard to avoid Jimmy Saville and Gary Glitter.
I love watching the countdowns and often know at least half the songs. I know hardly any of the top 20 from today.
Yes I am sad. Need a new hobby I think.
While we're on the topic does anyone remember and love the Rock N Roll years ??

Mellowandfruitful · 24/01/2014 00:56

Absolutely not. Golden stuff. Must look up the Hitman and Her on YouTube. I love the TOTP reruns on BBC4.

Amy106 · 24/01/2014 06:45

I think you should watch whatever you want and whatever makes you happy.

meditrina · 24/01/2014 06:51

They started the reruns of TOTP with those from 25 years ago as part of Golden Jubilee celebrations. Kept on because people like it (though the timing is terribly off now, as they don't show every programme).

It either means you were a teen when they were first broadcast, or wished you were? Those couple of years where punk and pop were next to each other were brilliant - and there were some very surreal juxtapositions.

Not enough music on tv, I can't get enough of old TOTPs, Old Grey Whistle Test, The Tube...anything from the 60s/70s/80s. It makes me happy.

My guilty pleasure is watching old kids tv, 1970s/80s.Blush
