To ask blonde, brown or in-between?

What suits you? I've just gone from bleached blonde to in-between and although I feel less stand-outy it certainly looks more natural and more healthy.

I've been brunette a few times too and liked that.

It's just in-between feels a bit boring...

I'm a mousey brown naturally, gone from dark brown to blonde, and back again.
I only went back to brown because my hair was trashed. I feel 'ordinary' being brown again, I much preferred blonde but everyone says they prefer me being a brunette

I really have been every colour, including unnatural ones. My very favourite is bright red but it fades too fast. Currently black but I have been bright blonde before. I enjoy colouring my hair, I don't care much for what apparently flatters my colouring etc. I like being experimental and having fun with colour.

Blonde and I hate it.

I was blond/mousy as a child, then dyed brown, black, red and various shades in between.

I was on a drug called methotrexate for 10 years, one of the side effects is hair loss, I didn't totally lose my hair but it thinned. When it grew back it grew blonde and wavy.

I also have psoriasis on my scalp so I used shampoo on prescription and if I dye my hair it strips the dye out in no time.

Naturally dark blonde but it doesn't make me stand out as so many bleached blondes about (and a few natural ones too!). I have about 3 grey hairs and when I go more grey I might dye it back to a lighter blonde as suits you to be lighter than natural colour when you get older I think.

When I was a child my hair was dark blonde with little red and gold bits in it but I've had white hairs since I was in my late teens but because it's very thick they didn't start to show until they got more plentiful in my late thirties/early forties. They dulled it to such extent that I decided to be really different and currently it's purple and pink with some blue which the purple fades to when I wash it. the hairdresser does it with 'crazy colour' every 5 weeks or so and it comes out different every time!

I have to have it bleached every second or third visit but eventually presumably it will all be silver grey like my Mum's.

Like sashh I have scalp psoriasis but it seems to have calmed down over the last few years and as long as I don't wash it too often (once or twice a week) and am careful what shampoo I use, it doesn't flare up very often.

Currently I think I'm using one called 'Avalon' (I think!) which is a cruelty free one supposed to be good for flakey scalps (seems to work for me anyway).

Not much good for Woowoowoowoo though who is presumably looking for more conventional colours! Blush

I'm naturally redheaded but haven't seen my natural hair colour for many many years as I've been bleaching and dying it stupid colours since university. It was pink for many years, which looked alright but is now blue which apparently really suits me. I have a theory that because my natural colour is such a startling hue of red then my complexion can carry off equally extreme colours.

Weirdly, the only hair colour that I haven't had over the years is brown! I do love it when it's freshly bleached all over though and like to spend a couple of days shovelling on red lipstick and pretending to be Courtney Love. :)

Yes Bunty, I have that exact same problem, I can have dye put in at the hairdressers or do it myself, permanent or semi, various shades of brown and they all go red over time. Hate it!

Dark brown. Never been blonde and never want to. In fact am not a fan of blonde hair on anyone, really, I much prefer dark babies (cuter), dark women (nearly always more beautiful IMO) and dark men (just hotter).

Just personal preference, really. Many people seem to gush over little kids with golden curls, but I have always thought dark hair and big chocolatey eyes far more adorable. I sometimes wonder if there is a genetic / tribal thing going on because I'm dark hair / eyes and so is everyone in my family.

I'm a fan of dark hair on others, it can look so cool and styled, it seems a rather boring bob (rather than an edgy one with a blunt fringe, for example) with highlights is the haircut of choice for lots of women over 35. I can totally see why though, easiest to maintain and easy to cover grey. Tempted myself.

I've tried brunette and red while my hair was growing back (I lost some of it due to medication). Now it's healthier I'm back to having it highlighted blonde again and I realise how much I've missed being lighter.

And yes, highlights do disguise grey quite well...

You don't like blonde hair on anyone? Not even people who are naturally blonde? Dark haired women are more beautiful, dark haired men are hotter, dark haired babies are cuter?

Hate to break it to you chum but there are plenty of ugly brunettes doing the rounds.

Ah, you know, just in general. I only mean I am almost exclusively attracted to darker men, and the women I find most beautiful are all dark. Obviously I do not extrapolate from that that all dark people are beautiful Hmm I'm most certainly not beautiful myself Grin

But if I think of celebs I find beautiful, it's people like Monica Bellucci, Isabelle Adjani, Salma Hayek, rather than, say, Scarlett Johansson or Michelle Pfeiffer - of course I can see they are gorgeous, but they just don't do anything for me. If you see what I mean Confused

I'm a natural mouse. My hair is dark(ish) but a grey toned brown. I don't feel like I fade into the background, or that My hair is boring, even though its midlength layers with a long sweeping fringe (the haircut the vast majority of women my age have). In fact I regularly get told how nice my hair colour is. I think it's all about how you feel about your hair. For me, I wish it could hold a curl, I'd love curly hair! In terms of what I prefer? I have no real preference. Experience would suggest dark brown is the hair colour I go for n men, but then most men I meet have dark brown hair so that's not exactly surprising.

My hair is dark blonde/light brown naturally. Over the years I have had it very blonde and very dark. Now I am starting to get lots of white hairs I find it easier to get highlights and they blend in together. I am thinking of going blonder next time as my hair is still looking a bit mousy even with the highlights.

I love dark hair but mine never looks quite right when it is dyed dark and the colour washes me out so I end up wearing tons of makeup. Also the colour never stays dark for long and ends up going a funny colour.

I've just this year stopped dying my hair for the first time since I was 17. (35 now :groan:) I was blonde for years and I loved it, then I went brunette for a long time then I went red. Now I can't be arsed! My natural hair colour is such a dull non brown nor blonde colour, but husband and 3DC are all lovely blondes. :jealous:

Bunty try using purple/silver shampoo marketed for blonde hair once a week to keep your hair cool-toned.

I've just gone back to brunette (my natural colour-ish) after years of blonde in an attempt to be a bit more low-maintenance. I miss the blonde but the brunette definitely suits me better.

I'm mousy/ dishwater blonde. I love it. Dyed it for 20 odd years, all the colours of the rainbow (reds were best, as I'm green eyed and freckly!) but I stopped two years ago and have embraced the dullness - it's actually not dull at all, I often get compliments and have been asked a few times where I had my "highlights" done.

Agree with a PP, too much blonde about!

Thumbwitch · 24/01/2014 16:20

Red is my preferred colour.

I was very ginger as a child, got bullied for it (thanks), and then it faded away into a more honey blonde colour as I got to the point where I could have been proud of it. Every now and then I dye it, much redder than its natural colour ever was.
Once it was dyed for me, and came out looking brunette for a while - freaked me out. Looked COMPLETELY wrong on me. It faded down to a better colour (mid reddish brown) which was ok.
Have never dyed it blonde, nor used sun-in or anything - but the front bits do bleach naturally in the sun and go quite fair.

I have blonde highlights I only started 3 years ago having been mouse, red and dark brown. I never thought I would suit blonde but the grey was getting too much. I should have done it years ago. I am having far more fun Grin and I look lush

I was white blonde as a child which turned dark blonde/mousey as i got older.

I had short hair for years and dyed it all different colours....dark brown was a BIG mistake...looked like i'd been dug up.

now have sharp bob with blunt fringe and full blonde highlights to cover up the eleventy million greys

i'll emrace the grey in years to come - but not in my thirties ffs

Mine is very dark brown. I did go blonde for a year or so in my early 20's, but it wasn't great. I did it myself at home, and it ended up being a sort of reddish dry mess (especially as it was permed at the same time).
I do colour it now to cover my grey ,but I stick to a shade slightly lighter than my own colour.
