I have lived in my current house over 6 years. The former owners were here somewhere between 12-15 years. I keep getting share holding (National Grid) information through from Crapita Capita addressed to the owner previous to them (so at least 18 years & maybe well over 20 years since he lived here).

Twice before I have called Capita registrars and told them that their records are out of date. Each time they have asked me to return the documents with a note explaining that the addressee no longer lives here, which I have done; last time was about 6 months ago.

So what drops on my door mat this morning? Yet another letter from Capita registrars about this damned shareholding! I phoned again and was polite but very firm, and pointed out that I was getting tired of their promises to do this and failing.

I'm at the stage now where I want to just bin any more letters for this guy. I know I should really make every effort as not only is he (or his heirs) missing out on important information but for tax reasons they need the tax vouchers (that's what today's letter had among other things). But I'm also thinking just how many times should I have to tell this shower of a registrars before I have done all I can or am obliged to..

Return to sender! They may then get the message. Don't even bother calling or just bin them.

Seriously after 6 years you really shouldn't still be doing this. If the previous owners cared that much they would have contacted Capita to update their details. Bin anything else that comes.

I returned a dividend cheque for the last-but-one resident of our house to the registrar (after several return-to-senders) with a note explaining she was long gone. I got a response that they're "legally obliged" to send correspondence to the last known address. I shall do no more than return to sender from now on! You have done your best, it's absolutely not your problem.
Save the effort for the "final demands" - we got those for the previous owners....

Whatalie I DID return a few to sender unopened, with "not known here" on the outside of the envelope. It was after that failed that I started calling.
