My next door neighbours 2 year old has been having full on tantrums every night around midnight for weeks now. It wakes me up every night. They are proper tantrums, screaming, kicking, slamming doors etc. my 5 year old Is complaining everyday that he's tired as he wakes up every night because of her. I have a 10 month old too so we are all shattered. AIBU to go over there today to tell them how tired we all are and expect something to be done???

My 3 year old ds has started waking at 3-4am and deciding its time to get up. I have to be up for work at 5am so I can see why he thinks this but can't get him to understand that just because I'm up, he shouldn't be.

I let him sleep in my bed until it's time for me to get up when he starts having a tantrum because I tell him he has to stay in bed. My bed or his own, I don't mind but he doesn't want either as he wants to get up.

So he cries and screams and I am very sorry that the neighbours are probably woken up by him. I sometimes end up shouting at him because it's 5am, I am knackered (as he has inevitably woken me up an hour early anyway) and frustrated that he won't just go back to sleep.

If anyone can offer a solution to this then I'd be very grateful.

Be veeeeeery careful if you're thinking of selling op. you will have to (legally) declare that you are aware of the noise and that it could cause a neighbour dispute.

Does your baby not cry at night?

Agree let it slide over your head if you intend to sell

There's more to wanting to move than the noise but I guess that's what made me ring the estate agent this morning.

Yes my baby cries but I'm a very light sleeper (could be half of the problem with next door!) and I get to him fast. He's slept through since 8 weeks and yes I'm aware of how fortunate I am!

But noise from children is reasonable & will be grown out of (as per the comments above) so does the OP really have to declare that she lives next door to a child?
