Mostly I am getting the DC clothes from boden, jules and crew and occasionally alexandalexa, but they have now been begging me for new clothes saying that these clothes are not cool and asking from clothes from hollister kids i do not see the point of paying £30 for a tshirt because because it has the words hollister. My children are still young so i thought this would come later parents opinions on hollister etc. Nearly fell of my chair when i saw the prices if they want a wardrobe full of hollister i guess they wont be going to university. DH seems to think we should get them hollister but IMO it over popular, tacky, cheap and chavvy and i am just paying for a name. Any opinions on hollister and jw

You do know that the term chav is offensive and you've started two threads using this term. Have a Biscuit and a Hmm .

I just had a look at the alexandalexa site & nearly had a heart failure at the prices! I had never heard of all these brands until I became a mn member, obviously I am not as rich as everybody else. If you can afford Boden & Alexandalexa prices, then why not Hollister?

Not for the faint hearted!

wonderingsoul · 19/01/2014 09:19

holy mother of all good things that is chocolate! Shock

the cost of that one dress would deck both my kids out for summer!

i think this is a show off thread.

If you buy them a whole new wardrobe when they dont need new clothes what are teaching them? To be entitled and demanding.

quirrelquarrel · 19/01/2014 10:28

the word chav is not bloody offensive. Maybe it is for some people who've never actually MET one.

Migsy1 · 19/01/2014 11:19

What is a chav?

paxtecum · 19/01/2014 12:17

TK Maxx sell dresses like that linked one for £10 - £20.
Though, they don't have much of a range of clothes for 8 + kids.

OP: Decide how much you are going to spend on each child and let them choose their own clothes.

Grin at HandsOff

SpagBogs · 19/01/2014 13:29

My younger DC get hand me downs from my older DC the clothes we buy usually last them a year or 2. Well in my area it only chavs who were hollister and my DC are far from chav that why I labelled it chavvy. The DC Grandparents buy them most of their clothes or DH.

If you buy the kids clothes from he places mentioned I. Your op, then you can afford hollister.

WireCat · 19/01/2014 13:32

As for chavvy. [Hmm]

Fairylea · 19/01/2014 13:32

What bakingtin said.

Boden and joules aren't any different in price to hollister.

If you're so worried about money try ebay or tesco.

If you're worried about your dc having clothes they like you might as well buy them hollister if you're spending boden money anyway!

scaevola · 19/01/2014 13:34

How old are the DC?

If you can afford Boden etc, then you can afford other brands (maybe by using supermarkets for basics).
