To have bought ROX Flawless Eye Cream

PMDD · 17/01/2014 12:50

I've fallen for the TV advert for ROX Flawless Eye Cream and just bought it on a special offer price, but still expensive. It gives temporary (up to 10 hours) wrinkle reduction.

Am I unreasonable to fall for the advert. Oh god I hope it lives up to the advert or I will feel a right plonker.

I don't know about unreasonable....gullable maybe :)

BigFatGoalie · 17/01/2014 13:05

I have bought this too, OP - also one for my MIL who looks like a little wizened apple, bless her.

I have 'laugh lines' or 'cows feet', hoping that it will do the trick for those - however temporary.

squoosh · 17/01/2014 13:09

Prevage eye serum is the only eye cream that I'm tempted to buy although it's mega expensive. Have heard rave reviews from impartial sources. Think Elizabeth Arden are good with samples though so will try that first.

henrysmate · 17/01/2014 13:17

No unreasonable really, a little, um impressionable perhaps. For a cream like that to work, it sets up a controlled allergic reaction on the surface layers of your skin, causing them to plump up briefly. There are also ingredients in the there to control the amount of redness this reaction causes, that's normal for this kind of product. That's why it works temporarily. That kind of thing isn't for me, but if it brightens your day and makes you happy, then you go for it. Even better that it's a bargain.

peppersaunt · 17/01/2014 13:21

Hope you didn't inadvertently sign up for a monthly supply (she says sceptically)

PMDD · 17/01/2014 16:08

Oh I hope I didn't either Peppersaunt. I'll check my order!!

My friend (mid-50s) bought some before Christmas and it's UH-MAYZ-ZING! She has quite deep lines (smoker, sun worshipper) and it's really made a difference.

LyingWitch "cows feet"??? sounds like you're being a bit hard on yourself there! Grin

Really? So not ideal for people who are already allergic to some eye shadows and suchlike then?

There is also a product being advertised called Sheer Cover Studio which is a powder foundation. Am I being totally gullible?

Nanny It depends, you can be sensitive to just one out of the bazillions of ingredients out there and it could make you react to lots of products because it happens to be a popular one. This product might not contain it, but of course the only way to find out is to test it on yourself, with all the potential risks that always brings for someone with sensitivities, sorry.

And PMDD I think Sheercover is a great idea, it's a compound of many different coloured micas (gound up stones basically, but very very very fine) (and this one is def not for you Nanny if you react to eyeshadows) that combine to make your skin look more uniform in colour and thus hide blemishes. It works really well, I've used it to cover rosacea (which is how I came to be such an ingredients nerd in the first place).

henrysmate · 17/01/2014 17:42

Oooo I should add that it works no better than the Lilylolo one I got which is a fraction of the price.

VampyreofTimeandMemory · 17/01/2014 18:20

i spend £20 on concealer today. ONE concealer. so yanbu.

PMDD · 18/01/2014 16:18

It has arrived today. I have tried it out on me and then my husband! You have to have clean skin with no moisturiser. Then put a small amount around the eyes. It does leave a really tight feel around the eyes and works a bit. I did it very quickly on my husband but he hadn't washed his face so there was oil etc. There was a difference.

I will keep trying and give better feedback later.

I've tried prevage it didn't work at all , waste of money! The best thing is to save up and go to a plastic surgeon and invest on face massages montly, it works wonders!

avajax0812 · 07/05/2014 16:50

Sheer c8ver is good. However be careful, using the poweder close to the eyes, as I developed an erosive abrasion in my eye, caused by this, I believe. Causing horrific pain. Is sorted now after emerg treatment and im on drops now for the rest of my life. Ive discontinued use now as it scared me.. ive read of a few womenthis has happened to. Thats why im convinced it was due the powder. Hope this helps x

OHforDUCKScake · 07/05/2014 17:45

Oooh watching with interest. Im really considering botox for my crows feet.

OHforDUCKScake · 07/05/2014 17:45

Its not even crows feet, it more like a chess bored.

BMW6 · 07/05/2014 17:48

I did reasd that a little Anusol applied to the eye area has an amazing tightening effect, and shed loads cheaper than Roc........

I wonder if the active ingredient is the same?

OHforDUCKScake · 07/05/2014 18:06

Ive read that too Beemer. Ive been tempted.....

parentalunit · 07/05/2014 19:12

Drink more water, it will make most people look younger and it's free :)

LaurieFairyCake · 07/05/2014 19:16

As far as I'm aware there is nothing anyone can do for crows feet apart from surgery where they cut bags and sew it back together or they 'pull' the crows feet skin tighter and sew it next to your ear.

My crows feet are the only thing that give away my age - if I don't move my face and wear light reflecting powder and you're 3 feet away I look 30 Grin

BMW6 · 08/05/2014 10:23

Right. At the weekend I'll buy some Anusol and give it a try..........

I'll report back!
