So Lord Carlisle was being interviewed on C 4 news tonight about the other guy ( can't remember his name) who was accused if sexually assaulting 4 women and not only is he being allowed back in the party, he doesn't even have to apologise to the women he allegedly sexually assaulted. And why should he? Said Lord Carlisle. It's just one fuckwit entitled male standing up for another one! He gave me the creeps, couldn't even look at the camera! Did anyone else see this?? Am just so angry! The news is full of sexual abuse cases today, and most of them get away with it ( unless they are an ethnic minority, in a gang etc)

Sorry for the rant but just pissed off...!!

Forall Sadly it looks as though Lib Dems can't get rid of the parasites who are abusing the power. Somehow they seem to feel they cannot, despite the obvious harm they have done and continue to do to any potential election.
All laughable now really as I don't know a single person who would vote for them again. Roll on the next election!

Just saw a yougov poll today, ukip (12%) more popular than libdem (10%)

Thanks lib dems Angry

LokiIsMine · 17/01/2014 14:45

Yep, Farage is getting more popular than LibDems. Congrats......

Nice article about Rennard:

zelo-street.blogspot.co.uk/2014/01/lord-rennard-time-to-go.html

From twitter, it seems that Clegg is not happy about him staying in the party......

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 17/01/2014 19:41

Breaking news - clegg says refusal to apologise brings party into disrepute, he does not want him to return until he has apologised

HermioneWeasley · 17/01/2014 19:44

But if he has something to apologise for, why hasn't he had his membership withdrawn?

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 17/01/2014 19:47

Well yes, but tbh, I'd ask if he has something to apologise for, why is he not facing criminal proceedings? But then its already been pointed out here how MPs dont answer to the same law as everyone else

LokiIsMine · 17/01/2014 19:59

Hermione

That was I wondering too.....

Lioninthesun · 18/01/2014 00:15

Really not surprised about the UKIP popularity. Farage sounds infinitely better than Lib Dems to me at the moment, and that is sadly clearly the fact of the matter for many according to that poll.
A fact for the Lib Dem MP's, a friggin FACT!
Go on, you know you can do it - use it in something. ANYTHING!

I think with regard to resignation , actually think it's now irrelevant whether he did or did not harrass the women who complained. He should now resign because of the massive doubt that will be in the minds of the party members and the public in general. He should resign because he otherwise there will be a Lib Dem Lord whose honesty and integrity is (rightly or wrongly), doubtful. He is doing damage to the party by staying. It's not all about him and HIS pride now.

Baroness Kennedy spoke on this very eloquently yesterday - yes, one feels compassion for a man who by all accounts did not realise that his behaviour was causing offence and distress, and did not intend that offence and distress, BUT one must consider all the women who have left politics and been lost to the country through men behaving like that. They need to be brought up short and have it made clear to them that this is not the 1950's and it is NOT ok to behave in that fashion. One feels a little sorry for Rennard as he is a product of his generation who has not moved on, but ultimately I feel more sorry for the women and do not see why Rennard cannot apologise for the distress he has inadvertently caused. Baronees Kennedy (herself a QC) did not believe that that would increase his chances of being prosecuted, or harm his defence if her were.

I also think that the Lib Dems should publish the report, redacted if necessary, and let Rennard see a copy.
