To not let them watch tv after school?

Grrrrrr,I am fed up with my DD (9) and DS (5) arguing every afternoon over the TV. The arguments start the second they walk in the door and go on until tea time. DD is just currently having a crying tantrum in her room as she has watched tv for the past two hours and I said now it is time to put on something for DS to watch. DD also gets very moody if I ask her to do anything that means she has to move from the tv.

Both have a bedroom full of toys, a tv each, a tablet each, etc, yet all they want to do is watch the tv in the living room. Every night one or other of them ends up having a screaming tantrum.

WIBU to hide the remote controller tomorrow, unplug the tv and say there is no more tv after school until they can behave.

YANBU at all. Life is much happier here since we ditched TV/DVDs Monday to Thursday (1 film DVD is watched as a family on Fridays, with popcorn)

They whinged for a couple of days (this was back in September) but it's been great since then. They do have 30mins each on the iPad or DS though.

YWNBU but they're probably tired and taking it out on each other. I'd let them but set a limit for each to have half hour then they do something else.

YANBU...I find my DS does need wind down time but that can be done many ways not just TV...

If it makes a far happier household is well worth missing a little Cbeebies

Things were easier when there were just two kids TV channels and only for a limited time I think!

Yanbu. Sometimes it's easier to not have it on. Ds often plays on the wii for half an hour after school, and dd comes home at 12 so watches a little then but mostly after wii time is over the tv goes off. They may watch a bit more after dinner depending on what we are doing.
