Just a quicky :)

AIBU to think if you ask for feedback after making a very big effort for a School Event, then its good manners & keeps volunteers onside if you do make some effort to answer - ie my getting up very early, cooking a very large batch of food when ill & DH delivering it on time & my asking a couple of times to let me know how it sells ok -

I never did get an answer & its put me off doing it again - there has been other issues but this is the one that's put me off replying to a call to volunteer again - as well finding the new lot very full on chatty when they want help, not so in between times - that in itself doesn't bother me, not looking to be their best mate, but find it a bit Hmm

Opinions please

Thanks :)

When was the event? Have you been back into school/the playground since so they could say thanks to you if they see you?

When voluntary stuff is done at our schools they tend to send out a general thank you parent email or post it on the PTA facebook page thank everyone, but not individual thank you's. Which is OK by me, the PTA are volunteers too and some are less appreciative than others, just the way it goes. I see what I do if and when I volunteer as doing something good for the kids and school so I don't expect a personal thanks in return. I think that goes even if it's for one cupcake or 300!

If I were you I'd give my time once more, with a smile on my face and a positive attitude. If you still feel you have been taken fro granted and your help not appreciated then don't help out again after that.

Its not the actual thanks as such, we get a round robin via email, which is perfectly fine - I was interested in how well it had sold as I'd done a bigger batch than asked for as it wasn't worth my while doing what they wanted & it cost no more IYSWIM.

Also I heard there was some face pulling by some PTA members at a meeting as they just werent understanding the dish & I even had a couple of people not realise it was me making it, as started bitching & laughing to me about a disgusting sounding dish someone had offered to do. - A bigger batch had sold out in previous years & they had all eaten it & asked for recipes & it made a good profit & easier for certain diets etc, they just didn't know what was in it Grin

So I had thought of maybe offering as recipe cards to sell next time - but that was a different more open minded PTA, who have now mostly left, which is why I'd asked them to let me know how it had sold this time, as I wondered if the negative attitude would spread & affect sales,

the head of PTA seems okay, if a bit overly friendly on the run up to fetes etc & then far less so at other times, but I've found the others not so much so, very different to the lovely crowd we had before, very gushing when they want something, dont even notice you otherwise & damn right rude & gang up if you disagree with anything they say or do & using boardroom speak in meetings & emails which I personally find OTT, very clique too, which I suppose is what puts me off more as I find it very pretentious.

I know its for the school, but feeling more like giving my time in other ways TBH, as I'm less enamoured with them as time goes on -

but I wasn't sure if wanting to know if my offering had sold well or not was a big ask - it was the sort of feedback we always got with the last PTA leaders Confused - maybe they were just particularly good at handling volunteers
