I am only 38 weeks but I have had a week of these bastering things they are strong enough to stop me in what i am doing but i can still talk through them. Timing wise they are all over the place but occasionally just to get my hopes up they start getting closer together and full of pressure but nothing happens.
This is baby number 4 and I had this for a full 5 weeks with the last baby but I am not in the mood this time fed up and cross Angry

I feel your pain. I'm 38 weeks with dc6.

Strangely & unlike other pregnancies I haven't has a lot of BH... Until yesterday!

I can't talk through them & need to stop what I'm doing.

Hope baby 'pops' out soon!

YoMamma · 15/01/2014 16:08

I hear you! I'm due tomorrow. I've had so many BH, cramping etc and feel like I've been in labour since New Years. Never had anything like this with DD. I am completely miserable!

Lariflete · 15/01/2014 16:32

You have my complete sympathy - I had them from 24 weeks with DS and it drove me up the wall!
Garlic sauce (and pizza) got the baby out!!!

gemmaj66 · 15/01/2014 16:45

Really sympathise.

Nearly 37 weeks with DC4 and I've had them almost constantly since 31 weeks. They seem to really gear up - say every 3 minutes for 2 hours - and then nowt! Then an hour later they're off again - every ten minutes for 5 hours or whatever!

Hope your babies turn up soon ladies!

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 15/01/2014 17:31

Yup I'm 40+5 and have had days of on off contractions. Was out today and very uncomfortable. Dared to hope tht something was happening but went home and they stopped. This is DC2. DC1 was birn at 40+4 after going not labour at 40+2 so I've not really had experience of going into labour this late and I'm finding it very hard - not helped by the fact that the midwife and other people kept saying that second babies are usually earlier

Am in the verge of tears constantly and cant do my hypnobirthing stuff as I know that everything will just stop. So there's no point. I don't trust my body anymore.

Am convinced I will need to be induced so wondering whether just to face the inevitable and ask to be booked in now. Seeing midwife on Friday. I was meant to be having a homebirth or at least labouring at home for as long as possible but am contemplating giving the stuff back to her as it's just depressing seeing it lying around and I'd rather just be practical and pragmatic and accept a medicalised birth with interventions now

Am so down, than I'm actually going to enquire about having an elective section too, if it's not too late, as if I'm going to be induced, maybe I just go the whole hog rather than put up with lying on a bed in the consultant led unit for hours being induced with the inevitable forceps or section later

I feel your pain- been having BH since NYE and no sign of progress. I hope you get some progress soon.

katheroo · 15/01/2014 19:28

I also had this for 5 weeks with my second pregnancy, started at 36 weeks until she came 8 days overdue, they were bad enough for me to ring the hospital on 3 occasions to say I was coming in only for them to trail off. I am now 35 weeks with baby no.3 and have been having them since 33 weeks but because of my last experience I am fully ignoring them and won't believe I'm anywhere near labour until im in agony! Strangely enough though I really enjoy the mild pains and braxton hicks, even when they're painful enough to take my breath away (strange I know)Wink

QueenArseClangers · 15/01/2014 19:53

I had this and felt in limbo and very pissed off.
Sunday afternoon I had enough so got my breastpump attached and spent a good few hours on it but as soon as I stopped pumping the pains would subside.
Despondant, I went to bed, hobbling with spd.
Half an hour later woke up with pains then..... a trickle.
My labour was speedy and at home with 90 minutes between having a thick, 1cm dilated cervix and delivery!
I'm sat here typing with my beautiful 2 day old daughter at my breast Smile.
She was the earliest of 4 DC at 39 weeks and fucking gorgeous.

Hope my tale gives you hope!

Apparentlychilled · 15/01/2014 21:25

Oh QueenArse- congratulations!

And that does give me some hope- fingers crossed I have a similar result soon!

Nousernameforme · 15/01/2014 22:08

Aye well done QueenArseClangers I now have hope however I also have a 6 year old with chicken pox so am hoping baby doesn't put in appearance too soon will have to ignore all possible pains with no twiddling for me :(

Am also 38 weeks and suffering the same thing. Keep thinking 'this is it' only for it to tail off into nothing. Rang the labour ward today after it got particularly bad and the midwife told me 'it can either be labour or just your body preparing' oh brilliant!

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 18/01/2014 14:24

I'm back! Well, think the on off contractions did something as I had a little girl - Eva - on Thursday at 5:03pm. I went into labour at about 9 - initially thought it was trapped wind!

Stayed at home til about 6cm no then went to the hospital. The midwife broke my waters and I went from 6cm - 10cm in about 10 minutes so that was a but scary!

Very lucky as no stitches or tears but a hugggeeeeee pile so hoping that it will resolve itself.

magimedi · 18/01/2014 14:29

Hooray! Bet Eva's gorgeous, we've named our DD Edith.
Totally sympathise with you on th piles front. I had a poo before and was dreading it but wasn't as bad as I feared. The unsutured second degree tear however...Shock

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 18/01/2014 15:52

queen - sorry! Just saw your post. Edith is a lovely name too. Congratulations

Thank you for letting me know re the poo. Been advised to drink pints of water and then have a go. Yuck!

crazykat · 18/01/2014 20:20

I had that from 33 weeks with dc3. There were half a dozen times they got to 5 mins apart and very strong and I was about to phone the labour ward when it would stop. She ended up being a week late and the contractions were 3 minutes apart within 30 minutes of the first one when I was actually in labour. Drive me mad.

crazykat · 18/01/2014 20:20

Drove not drive.
