I met a mum at school on the first day of term two years ago and our children have been firm friends ever since.

I've been for coffee with her and our children have played at each others home. All fine.

As conversations always go, what does your husband do ? i said DH was an accountant and she replied 'oh same here' or words to that effect. that was that and never mentioned again.

Now, I just discovered in the local newspaper that her husband is a turf accountant There was a article about him and a photo and everything so its not just a random name coincidence.

I'm like its not the same thing at all ? is it ???

Maybe she's a bit Hyacinth Bucket and decided to drop the 'turf.

Chartered or Certified she queries... Turf he smiles.

Maybe she didn't here you properly... It's a problem why?

That's actually hilarious and could only further cement my friendship with her.

It's far more likely she hasn't got a bloody clue what her husband does and just thinks it's something to do with money. Or something.

I'm equally vague when describing DPs odd job

Maybe she has had judgy comments in the past about her husband's job and so tries to gloss over it with new people because she gets fed up of dealing with people who might disapprove or make snarky comments. Why does it bother you? Even if she does think it is the same - does it matter?

She didn't mishear....she does know the difference....She's just having a giggle....
