I mean WTF was that all about?
I spent days looking forward to series 2 and then he's stabbed with a bloody ice pick!
Spent almost the entire episode hoping and willing it all to be a big wind-up...expecting him to walk in any minute saying "Ah, got you there".
Rubbish storyline too.
What a crock of shite - won't be watching it again.
Love the other actors as I do, it can't be the same without Richard Sad

She's new and had nothing to apologise for.
Still, nice to see she got a lovely MN welcome before she left.

There are posters here who really need to get a grip! It must make life incredibly stressful if people get this het up about a tiny (and very publicised!) thing!

jess, you've not been rude!

LadyBeagleEtes, of course plot details will circulate, and of course we don't need to maintain a news blackout for the Australians! I found out whodunnit in Broadchurch from a Telegraph article which wasn't adequately headlined as a spoiler, but didn't overreact because it was in the article and I had clicked on the headline - silly "risk", but oh, well, I won't now bother watching Broadchurch.

However, again, it's spoilers in the original headline wjich have people het up, as there wasn't any choice about clicking.

OP, it"s rather harsh to learn in this way that not everyone watches television in the same way, and not everuone reads articles in the "entertainment" genre, no matter how widespread the "news" may have seemed. But there it is.

Oh no. I haven't got another impersonator have I?

Report
DrankSangriaInThePark · 15/01/2014 16:35

Blimeyheck. Was just wondering if Sparkling had had a personality transplant and then (luckily) realised in time it was a cypher.

My friend once snogged Ben Miller. In the 6th form.

Did she cut herself on his jaw, DrankSangria?! Grin It's brilliant how his appearance underlined the DI Poole personality... he is very square!

SparklingMuppet, off-topic, but can I ask how / why you chose your username? Are you a Jim Henson fan?

Report
SparklingMuppet · 15/01/2014 18:27

I've always had a version of sparkling/sparkly in my user name stemming from our twee nickname for my engagement ring 15 years ago (Blush). The muppets bit is because I adore the John Denver and The Muppets Christmas album (again Blush but it's hugely sentimental of my childhood before my parents passed away when I was very young), so yes, definitely a Jim Henson link! I've been name changing once a month or so for a few months now due to private circumstances, and my christmas name was TheMuppetsSingChristmas and I wanted to get back to a 'sparkly' version, so...

Oh that's lovely.

It's just that Sparklingbrook has had imposters pretending to be her in the past.

Thank you for clearing that up.

Right - so now when you are pulled up on being inconsiderate and selfish, you can cry and say you are aleaving and then people who have criticised you for it get moaned at Hmm

It's basic manners - if you want to discuss a TV prog, you go to the TV addicts area and you put the title of the prog in the title of the thread - you DON'T tell people what has happened in the episode.

Not sure why some people find it hard to believe that some people haven't seen any trailers and don't read TV magazines - they've told you they haven't, why would you accuse them of lying over something like that?

Report
DrankSangriaInThePark · 15/01/2014 19:29

Is it really so important to you Backforgood? Really? A (not very good) telly programme? That you have to lay down the law and tell Mners where they can and cannot post? Even after the fucking programme has been on and been talked about anyway for weeks?

Sheesh. You must lead a very, erm, dominated by the box kind of life. Have you thought of getting a hobby? It might help your blood pressure?

Renter- she said she only did it because it was a party and everyone was snogging everyone else. She wishes now she had more juicy information to share but sadly hasn't. Grin

Oh, for goodness sake!

I'm woefully, woefully behind with Doctor Who. My fault, too many other things to watch.

I found out that Amy and Rory had died and my world didn't end.

Because IT'S A TV SHOW!

I knew about Sherlock falling off the building because I didn't watch that quick enough too.

I didn't cry over it or have a strop at other people talking about it.

Leave the OP alone and grow up - it's like people who get precious over soap operas. Tad childish.

Drank - Jesus, even I'm further ahead than you!

I found out when it was the front cover of the Radio Times, from Stephen Moffat. I went 'shit on it!', then calmly got on with my day.

I'm clever like that, me.

(Love the Donna episodes)

Why on earth did hundreds of millions of people worldwide go to the cinema to see Titanic?

Idiots. I stayed at home because I knew it sank in the end.

Report
Whiskwarrior · 15/01/2014 19:46

Yes, but did you know that a) some people genuinely didn't know that the Titanic was a real ship that actually sank and b) that some people thought it was a brand new film when it was re-released in 3D?

When I read about people like that I think we need a cull in the world population - it's cruel to keep them going and they spread TB*

*that might be badgers.

Drank - it's clear from your post that you don't know anything about me. I have a pretty busy life actually, and don't watch that much telly (hence probably not having seen these trailers that some people think it was impossible to miss). Whenever I have my blood pressure taken, it's always been excellent, thanks for your concern.
No - I can give or take Death in Paradise as a Programme - if I have time that week I might watch it, but it's no big deal if I don't, but this isn't about spoiling one particular programme, it's about manners, and having a little consideration for others. Yes, to some extent it's about site etiquette, but (as I said in an earlier post) that's not peculiar to this site - it would be the same if I was chatting to a friend and wanted to mention something I'd seen on the tele - the conversation starts - 'Did you see..... last night. She's spoilt it for a lot of people, who have pointed it out to her so hopefully she doesn't do it again.
Just strikes me as odd that the people who pointed it out, then got criticised more than the person who was so thoughtless (I assume rather than deliberately spoiling) in the first place.

at "Bible doesn't end well". Depends which side you were on, I suppose.

I rather liked Death in Paradise, actually. It's always hard when a major character decides they want to leave (Downton Abbey is STILL bothering me), but I quite admire the attempt they made to continue with the general feel of the series despite this. We'll see how it goes.
