AIBU?

To think pictures of babies with food on their faces are gross?

I'm not asking 'why do people do this' because I definitely did it too when DS was small and I wrongly thought weaning pictures were funny. I might even have put one on Facebook. But they are actually so gross. All I think when I see one is 'that lovely face is spoilt by that crusted on baked bean juice' and it just makes me feel a bit ill. I also find kids with food encrusted faces a bit grim in real life, maybe I'm a weirdo.

I wouldn't expect others to find the pics cute/amusing, and wouldn't share it on Facebook etc, but we do take pics of this! Mostly because it happens all the time and my memories of DD feeding are of her getting messy.

It's totally normal for babies to get messy when they eat so I would never find it gross. DD is 2 and still gets yoghurt in her hair and eyelashes! Obviously we clean her up. But it's just food, and not even spat out food. People who think that's gross must have some issues with food!

random, that is very extreme. Hmm I don't find that babies make me feel sick per se; I find that food round people's faces makes me feel sick. Age is irrelevant. I'm pretty sure I haven't 'got a bit missing' and I'd be willing to bet that others on this thread with similar feelings haven't either.

Feeling physically sick because a baby has food on their face is an extreme reaction, don't you think pictish?

And it isn't a rational response, it's an emotional one. So while I could probably muster up a thoughtful argument to support my judgement of your judgement, I won't, because I think it's enough to say that I feel like there may be something 'missing' in someone who feels such physical repulsion at the sight of a baby's face. The thread is about people's emotional responses isn't it? I gave you an insight into mine Shock Grin

I agree, I think it's horrible - DH has put photos of DD on our computer so that there's a slideshow when the screensaver comes on, and I have to look away every time the picture of DD with food all over her face comes up - and that's my own daughter! Bleurgh Grin

For me it's the food on the face that makes me feel sick, not what age the person is. It's certainly not 'the sight of a baby's face' per se that makes me feel sick and wording it like that comes across as deliberately provocative.

I agree with you OP. It looks vile. It makes me a feel a bit nauseous. I don't find it cute at all.

Don't worry random I wasn't offering to babysit your offspring, so it doesn't matter that you think I've got a bit missing. Hmm

I feel a bit queasy at the sight of mayo round my MIL's mouth, but I've never felt disgusted by food on a baby's face, so it might be the same for all of you pictish, but it isn't the same for everyone. 'Whose' face it is does matter to some people, just not you.

Don't pay any attention to me though, I'm just looking for a fight, or I'm bonkers. Interesting argument technique that pictish, I think it's got a name and everything. I'd look it up if I gave a shit Grin

Hahahaha random that's really, really funny.
I made it clear I don't find the baby disgusting, just the crusted on food. I don't have anything missing, thank you, but it's nice if you to worry about me and my parenting :)
