To still have a homebirth?

Homebirthquestion · 11/01/2014 19:41

Sorry but posting here for traffic.

I'm 40+6 with a very low risk pregnancy. I'm under the care of the home birth team.

I came into hospital yesterday because the baby was very quiet. The trace was perfect and Dr discharged me as soon as she saw me. I was told to come back in today if movements were any different from normal.

They have been quiet again - sluggish and smaller but again trace is perfect.

Midwife has told me ahead of Dr coming that this automatically means they'll want to put me in for induction (not tonight) which means a home birth is off.

Does anyone know what my 'rights' are in this circumstance? Gut feeling is baby is quiet because it's really dropped low since friday and has less room to move.

Dr coming after eight o'clock. Any advice please?

I was in the same position as fidget and had a successful HB. After being berated for wanting a HB by several consultants the head one said it was up to me to assess what risk I was happy with.

It sounds like your gut instincts are right at the moment from what the doc says- good luck Smile

Thanks again. Think I'm labour after that sweep. Well I'm pretty sure I am! Baby very awake.

Sounds like you have a a pretty supportive doctor, so I think if he decided it was time to move, then I'd listen to him. Hopefully you are in labour and can have the birth you want. Good luck.

WandaDoff · 12/01/2014 01:52

Oh wow!

How are you coping?
Have you called the midwife to let them know?

Homebirthquestion · 12/01/2014 01:59

Fine so far. Just called and will call back in a bit once it ramps up. Poor midwife has had a run of us and is shattered.

Every six minutes for one minute.

Nervous because I switched from lovely breathing every five minutes with dd2 to screaming unmovable banshee every two minutes within one contraction and dh had to call an ambulance. This time I will have G&A before 10cm!

If it's not labour I will go in to be induced because I've had enough.

I just started reading this and was going to post my own not-to-be home birth story. Turns out its a live birth thread after all. HOW EXCITING!!
I hope all goes well. Grin

TrucksAndDinosaurs · 12/01/2014 02:28

Sending you and the baby good wishes for a easy and safe delivery :)

Homebirthquestion · 12/01/2014 02:34

Thanks.

Might be arrested for killing dh first. He's snoring like a dumper truck and has woken up to complain about his sore throat and pass back out. Completely missing the contraction I was breathing through.

I'll let him enjoy his last sleep for 12 months for now...

I laboured alone. I certainly don't think that a well placed thump to his goolies stomach would be unreasonable right now.

StillNoFuckingEyeDeer · 12/01/2014 02:47

Good luck!

Proudmummytodc2 · 12/01/2014 02:52

wobblyweebles · 12/01/2014 03:39

Good luck, deep breathing, nice and calm, remember every contraction gets you closer, etc etc.

(Reckon the OP's probably had the baby by now...)

Homebirthquestion · 12/01/2014 03:46

Ha. I wish. Contractions painful but seven minutes now.

Trying to call my sister to look after the DC but I think she's put her phone on silent! Hopefully they'll stay asleep.

Hi all,

We had our baby girl at half six this morning. Born in the pool. She's gorgeous and very chilled but healthy. 9lb2oz and it turns out home birth is pretty grim too!

Thanks for all your support.
