To have a birthday party?

I've never had one. Birthday in August so not when I was little and now everyone goes on holiday. So I do feel a little bit hard done by.

Anyway. Significant birthday this year.

Do I want a party?

A proper, hire a hall and a band kind of party.

Or alternatively.....

Do I want to go on a fancy weekend break somewhere like Rome, or Prague?

What do you think? Which would you rather do and why?

Also any idea how much either would cost?

Would I actually enjoy a party?

Well I'd go to Rome, but I hate parties. helpful

I too have a big birthday this year and am going to St. Petersberg, mainly as I don't have enough friends to have a

party. Fat fingers, sorry.

I'm not a party gal. But never having had one I fon't know.

It would be nice to have all my lovely friends there. But equally I don't do that 'all about me' thing (had 20 people at my wedding).

Did the party for last significant birthday and can't say I enjoyed it. Too stressed about who was going and the cost of the whole thing, and trying to mingle and introduce people who didn't know anyone else.

If it's a 4-0 significant birthday then I'm around the same age and have had a few invites to them lately. Loads of people seem to cry off due to babysitting - it's just that age I suppose.

So I would say: fancy weekend break.

New York?

I have £37 in my NY fund. That might be an idea.

Why not go out for a nice lunch or dinner with as many of your friends as you can muster? They pay for their food, you buy a few bottles of wine.

And go for a fancy weekend away.

Spend the money on yourself & go on holiday. If you want to celebrate, then have a meal/drinks with friends & family.

AtYourCervix · 09/01/2014 20:23

That sounds nice Twat.

Id agree with weekend away part is good on theory - reality = stress.

Entirely up to you OP obviously, both could be really fun. I've had both at various times and though both were great I much preferred the weekend in Prague. It was so fun and such a special get away. The party was brilliant but I decided I felt a bit under pressure at my own party and was so concerned that all my friends and family from different parts of my life were getting on and whether the food was ok etc. It was still brilliant but I wouldn't rush to do it again. I prefer other people's parties!
