I usually have them waxed... i had them threaded for the first time 3 days ago... and they are red and bumpy and feel like carpet burns.
Am i the only one!?!

I really like threading. It gives my eyebrows a great shape. I think it looks natural than waxed brows imo. Maybe you had a reaction of some sort?

PostmanPatAlwaysRingsTwice · 08/01/2014 19:14

I was disappointed to find out that your problem was caused by something as unexciting as threading.

But as it happens, I don't think that should happen, no. Mine are fine after an hour tops. They didn't use any creams or suchlike did they?

cardibach · 08/01/2014 19:16

The only time I have had the carpet burn effect was after waxing - wax just a leeetle bit too hot. THreading redness subsides in about an hour and I don't get bumps.

makemineabacardi · 08/01/2014 19:20

Me too postman! I was trying to figure out what position you'd have to be in to get carpet burn on your eyebrows Grin.

hickorychicken · 08/01/2014 19:26

Haha sorrry. I had some aloe vera gel afterwards but ive used that loads. Shall never use threading again.

I had mine threaded once. Never again - it fucking hurt and they were bleeding afterwards (not much, but still). Then they offered me some aloe vera gel - another 5 sodding quid Angry

Hoppinggreen · 08/01/2014 19:44

Another one here who had her eyebrows waxed and vowed never again!!!
It was like being stabbed by dozens of tiny evil pixies with sharpened toothpicks!!
Waxing all the way, but OP try Aloe Vera

SybilRamkin · 08/01/2014 19:53

Very weird - you shouldn't have a reaction to threading itself, it does the same thing as waxing. Perhaps your therapist used the wrong type of thread or minty dental floss which either created too much friction or reacted with your skin?

Sympathy, anyway. Sounds painful! (although perhaps observers think that your sex life must be super-kinky to get carpet-burned eyebrows!)

Loopylouu · 08/01/2014 20:00

I went for threading once. I left with one eyebrow done. It hurt more than childbirth.

I get them waxed, I Han handle that but I don't let them pluck, I can't stand that either.

I think you should try a different salon/threader/whatever the correct term is. I get my brows and my luxuriant moustache threaded at a local barber's and have never had any sort of reavtion or even much redness. I get it done in my lunch break and then go back to work, dim prob...

CatsCantFlyFast · 08/01/2014 20:03

It's the gel on open pores... I've used the gel fine on many occasions but have learnt from bitter experience to turn it down after threading... It brings me out in spots

frizzcat · 08/01/2014 20:07

I've been having threading for years, eyebrows and upper lip. Lip goes down within an hour but eyebrows longer. I think it depends how sensitive your skin is really.

I will never use Veet again though, use it once per week on my bikini line and last the night the bastard stuff left a horrific burn, not actually on the fanjo but bloody near. I now love sudocrem

LaurieFairyCake · 08/01/2014 20:09

Why use wax or thread? Confused

Can't you just tweeze, I've never had bumps or redness from that.

moanymandy · 08/01/2014 20:12

I have mine threaded too and ja e never had anything like you describe.
I would suggest trying a different place as I find it much better than waxing.
