Why? Confused Is one thread not enough?

SherlustHolmes · 07/01/2014 17:17

You can't do right for doing wrong!

Posters on that thread suggested I start another one.

I suggested you start another thread and explain the issues not just link to the old thread.

LittleprincessinGOLDrocks · 07/01/2014 17:20

Yes they did, because you restarted a zombie thread.
What they meant for you to do was start your own thread detailing what your issues were, and maybe include a link to the previous thread to back up your points.

SherlustHolmes · 07/01/2014 17:33

I give up.

OP posts:
PedlarsSpanner · 07/01/2014 17:41

Well to be fair you have linked to a v old thread with little explanation.

So no need to headdesk, tell us what your AIBU is.instead.

AIBU to resurrect a zombie thread? Yes

AIBU to start a new thread with no comment or input other than resurrecting a zombie thread? Yes

AIBU to start a new thread about the same issues in a zombie thread, giving my thoughts on the matter, new information, current situation and linking to a zombie thread to show the problem is persisting? No

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 07/01/2014 18:22

OP, it's a very sad thread, doesn't really need much explanation as the OP of that one is very, very eloquent about her pain.

YANBU. The other posters on this thread must have had a bad day. You are not required to follow any convention other than guidelines set by MNHQ.

HoratiaDrelincourt · 07/01/2014 18:23

It's soooooo unfair, OP.

An opening post that said "I'm worried about the commodification of pets that results in healthy animals being pts every single day. A dog is for life, but the rescue centres and shelters are bursting at the seams. A vet also discusses this problem on this old thread. What could we do? Would compulsory licensing for pet owners help? Should there be minimum prices for domestic animals, or compulsory vet insurance to ensure pets aren't pts when they present with mild, curable cases?" would have had more constructive responses.

Don't be lazy if it matters!

DoItTooJulia · 07/01/2014 18:24

Eh?

Sparklingbrook · 07/01/2014 18:31

I think if you had put this in Chat it would have been entirely different Sherlust. Sad

I have read the original thread, if you hadn't bumped it I would never have seen it, and was an interesting/upsetting read.

SherlustHolmes · 07/01/2014 18:32

If the actual subject matter is less interesting to the posters on this thread than my way of bringing it to people's attention, then this is all pointless.

OP posts:
LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 07/01/2014 18:35

Why does OP have to explain at all when it's perfectly clear on the other thread? Did you come on this thread just to critique? Seems quite de rigeur today, more's the pity.

Sparklingbrook · 07/01/2014 18:37

I think so Lying, how many people on here criticising Sherlust have read the original thread I wonder?

fluffyraggies · 07/01/2014 18:42

It's an important subject, but that was a very long (and old) thread to be relying on just a link to re-ignight the discussion.

I read the thread while it was live 15 months ago. To bring this subject up in the hope of renewing debate is worthy, but needs more than just the link IMO. Grab attention with a good opening post. People are people - they respond better to a thoughtful intro.

Fakebook · 07/01/2014 18:42

I read and followed the original thread when it was first started. I remember it very clearly.

binger · 07/01/2014 22:52

I read it when originally posted but I'm glad it's highlighted for others. It's incredibly sad but I don't have any solutions unfortunately. Doubt if there is one. As long as people will sell to anyone on a whim this will keep happening.

Too many people not doing their homework and too many people after a quick buck selling to anyone.

No thoughts for the poor animal.

chocolatelime · 07/01/2014 22:59

Such an emotive subject & to those people who work in rescue over the country who are currently inundated with the latest wave of post-christmas dogs that have been chucked out of their homes, it is a desperate time of year.
