DS1 had a school friend over and I found out that his friend had been taking sweets out of our treat tin and had talked DS into doing it with him. My friend told him off in a light hearted manner but it wasn't enough IMO. I told DS off when they had left told him it was wrong and not to be pressured into doing silly things. I would have been annoyed and embarrassed if DS had done this when visiting someone AIBU?

Do you ration the sweeties?

heatseeker · 06/01/2014 22:10

They are 10 yrs old and it was a few pks of sweets and few choc bars. Its nothing major I guess.. just wish they had asked plus I had already given them a choc bar each.

I've lost the point of what you were cross about. Was it the mums reaction or that they did it at all? Tbh it was probably just a bit of giddy madness
On behalf of both boys and as long as your DS knows he was wrong then what else do you want? Just let it go.

To be fair you have no idea who instigated it and are assuming because of behaviour you have heard about the other child that it was them. Your dc at 10 would know this and tell you the same if asked to cover his back.

You waited until friend had left before reprimanding your dc so she prob did the same.

If you made a deal in front of your friend I'm sure she would've done the same too. If you casually said 'come on boys that was naughty' your friend would take the same manner as you. It's only natural.

Yabu.

I would expect 10 year olds to have a bit more respect.

Unclench your buttock cheeks, take your pearls off and go worry about something important.

heatseeker · 06/01/2014 22:28
