To think that Casualty is the worst programme on TV?

It is abismal. The writing is terrible and predictable and acting is even worse.

DH watches it every Saturday and every week I sit there watching it groaning and telling DH how shite it is, much to his amusement.

I think it's time a bomb was dropped at Holby hospital and the series cancelled.

Does anyone actually enjoy it?

What in God's name is a 'less-than-ordinary' background?

Foreign royalty? Louisiana swamp people?

Sparklingbrook · 05/01/2014 14:02

Who knows Line. It will be very mysterious. Or it maybe he was married to a blonde TV 'personality'. Grin

Sparklingbrook · 05/01/2014 14:06

Or he used to be a character in the bible with a very colourful coat. Wink

diddl · 05/01/2014 14:09

I don't watch anymore, but surely it's more entertaining than any reality shite?

GoldenGytha · 05/01/2014 14:16

Love Casualty!

Watched it from the very first episode in 1986,

I like Dixie, can't remember her ever being paired with Josh though, she came in with her Irish friend (who she was a little in love with) and when she left she was paired with Jeff, who I love.

The Tess and Fletch storyline really annoyed me though, as did the endless Curtis and Alice and Farmead Estate one.

Did like it better when it was all about the patients, and there would be various people going about their business, and you could play the horrific accident game.

Think the one with the two old farmers who were feuding (but were best of friends really) and one of them got tangled up in the Combine Harvester best Grin

I love Casualty, but I do feel that they missed an opportunity to provide education through the show.
The episode with the child suffering anaphylaxis could easily have showed correct procedure for using an Epipen. They could also have linked it to the anaphylaxis campaign. A missed opportunity.

Lee Mead's name will be 'Lofty'.

I expect he used to be an RAF pilot and is still mourning the tragic loss of Ginger and Biggles on a mission to supply shoes to Denise van Outen.

Grin LineRunner

Sometimes I wish there was a like button on here, like on fb.

Sparklingbrook · 05/01/2014 14:48

Well he's playing Robin Hood in panto at the moment Line. Grin

DiseasesOfTheSheep · 05/01/2014 14:49

It has good phases and bad phases. Currently in an awful phase. I miss Nick Jordan, Dylan, Patrick (going back a bit now!)

LineRunner · 05/01/2014 15:01

I suppose Casualty is a small step up from panto. Just.

OodlesofOods · 05/01/2014 15:13

I love Casuslty/Holby/Waterloo rd/Doctors because they are so inaccurate.
Currently watching on iplayer and fletch is under the lightest breeze blocks ever!

ohtowinthelottery · 05/01/2014 15:26

I always wondered if they really do have completely open- plan Resus departments in hospitals like they do on Casualty, where all the patients can see what's going on with the other patients. In Resus at our local hospital there are curtains between each bed/trolley, so although you can pretty much hear everything, you can't actually see them 'working' on patients.

DownstairsMixUp · 05/01/2014 15:30

Me and DP watch it and whoever is first to say, "His/she's gonna die" and said person does, wins. We don't win anything we just always do it.

I used to work as a hca/student nurse and they get loads of phrases/terms wrong on there. I'll sometimes shout at it and get annoyed and DP will Hmm at me (even though he does it on car programmes like wheeler dealers as he is a mechanic)

sallysparrow157 · 05/01/2014 15:45

There was a scene a while ago which I seriously considered recording and using as a teaching aid for medical students - as a 'spot the wrong and frankly dangerous actions'

Rowgtfc72 · 05/01/2014 17:55

I love casualty and have watched it since the beginning. When I was 13 I sent a letter to the bbc and got a signed photo of Charlie. I'm 42 this month and Derek Thompson, who plays Charlie, his real life son Charlie has a son! I feel old!

mumofthemonsters808 · 05/01/2014 17:59

My DD and I enjoy watching Casualty together but I agree last nights was boring.

candycoatedwaterdrops · 05/01/2014 18:26

YABU. Casualty is excellent if you watch it in the same frame of mind as you'd watch a bad comedy show. Wink

Writerwannabe83 · 05/01/2014 18:27

I love Casualty!! But what have they done to the Theme Tune???

HungryHorace · 05/01/2014 18:57

My midwife friend detests it and Holby City. I think she sits shouting at the TV!

I stopped watching it years ago.

Does everyone remember the plane crash many years ago? Shocking special effects!

But, it's really not the worst programme on TV, I'd have thought. Surely shit like Big Brother etc win that title?

blondiep14 · 05/01/2014 18:59

I love it too.
But I also loved The Bill. A lot!

Pixel · 05/01/2014 20:28

Yes I was Shock at the theme tune last night. It was like when you used to put a record on at too slow a speed.

I liked Nick and Dylan too Sad. I do like Zoe though, she always looks great but is not up herself and has a touch of anarchy about her. Tess has turned into the female version of Charlie so the 'affair' seemed totally out of character, especially when she was careless enough to get pregnant.

TiggyOBE · 05/01/2014 20:33

I've just been watching Extreme Parking.

Caitlin17 · 05/01/2014 20:36

I don't watch it but caught one episode a couple of weeks ago. I'm so pleased Smithy has a new job.

candycoatedwaterdrops · 05/01/2014 21:07

Tiggy Sounds like my sort of programme. What channel is it on please? :)
