To be utterly disgusted by this

Have NC.

A relative used to work for a well known charity shop, as did relatives partner. Neither work there now as have moved on to other employment.

Whilst there they stockpiled anything that could possibly be worth anything (designer label clothes, shoes, bags, scarves, etc etc) and obviously quite a lot of it and for the past few months have been selling it to make money for themselves.

I'm disgusted. People donated stuff in good faith and it has in effect been 'stolen'

Iam disgusted.

What is it you would like to happen? You confront them with it, they confess, and calculate how much they've made and donate that to the charity? Is that going to happen?

If they're still working there, speak to the manager or someone in authority. If not, then I don't see what restitution can be made. Bad things happen every day, some even worse than this.

You could speak to or write to the relatives, explaining your feelings, and that you'll have minimal contact with them in future.

They left months ago. They were manager and assistant manager.

I don't know what I want to happen. Just so cross with them.

Don' t bother about proof. Tip off the police and they will investigate- make it easy for them- move fast while things are still traceable and print out the e bay evidence. They might have to confess for anything to be pinned down but at least it will make them realise what they have done is not acceptable. You could ribg the local paper- be a good bit of investigative journalism for somebody.

Once the police are involved it will be the charity that would bring charges. They should be given the chance to do so. Big charities often employ their own lawyers so it's not like the charity would be spending a fortune on a defence team etc. but either way, you should report them and let the normal course of events ensue.

MelanieCheeks · 02/01/2014 21:29

Even if they were manager and assistant- was it a recognised charity with higher ups? Or were they the ultimate authority?

Howlowcanyouget · 02/01/2014 21:35

They were not the highest, only in the shop. There's a head office etc.

Then contact the head office.
