Yet another NYE in with DH . We can't go out as the poor pooch is scared of fireworks. I heard the first one at 5.30 this evening. Not nice displays either just a few random bangs which frankly I can't see the point of.

I can understand families having SMALL fireworks in the garden for their children who won't be awake at midnight.

But massive, grenade-like sounding ones? No, they aren't let off by families, I don't think.

I am scared of fireworks so I'm hoping I sleep through them later. Got a few going off near me already.

It's not just that it scares pets. Pets get scared and I have a number, so I do appreciate that. It scares humans too. Particularly people who have lived through wars of various kinds, My mother was terrified every November 5th and December 31st. Because she had lived through a very bloody civil war in another country. Every firework sounds like a gun. Rationally she knew that the popping noises were celebrations. Emotionally she saw more dead bodies on the streets. So for her and for people like her who have lived through conflict - fireworks bring distress.

It's pissing it down too!!

We have some woods near us and every time there is a reason for fireworks there must be someone in the woods letting off those fireworks that just make a massive boom and do nothing more than annoy. No nice colours, no little oohs and argh's because they are nice. Just one big huge loud explosion. My dog then shakes all evening and can't settle. His eyes are wide with fear and he does not know where to hide.

I was all ready to go charging into the woods and give them a piece of my mind until I came to my senses. If I did we would proberly get them more often.

So as yet nothing but they will start around 11 and not stop till early hours.

Hate them.
