Have been lurking for a while but wondering if you don't 'qualify' if you can have a full night's sleep, go on holiday without bothering what your children will eat and can send them to the off-licence if you have a friend round for coffee in the morning....and run out of wine before 4.00.

I know how you feel, mrsjay. If you'd like to meet for coffee before the next meet up, so you'd know one face, we could do that.

mrsjay · 30/12/2013 22:03

oh that would be nice keep me posted Smile i might brave it

Dingleinthevillage · 30/12/2013 22:20

I'm so glad I've tempted another lurker to dive in. Ok, let's have a go at the smilies Grin

I am going to the Christmas meet-up this year.

I am going to book my flights the day the date is decided.

I have wibbled at the last minute and fucking Ryanair have put the prices up for the last two years. Not again.

CustardoPaidforIDSsYFronts · 30/12/2013 22:25

mumsnetters are larvelly in real life - much nicer in fact - i went out with three of them before xmas and twas amazing night

i have three grown up children

and i have hidden lots of topics involving babies and such - as i just don't give a shit what the best pushchair is.

great that you posted and you should indeed get to any meet up you can...organise a local one, i have been to many brighton ones and always end up falling off a train true story drinking a lot of wine

Dubjackeen · 30/12/2013 22:26

No kids at all, but I love MN, great source of wisdom, and lots of laughs too.

EvilWolefGenius, I'm afraid I will be like MrsJay and just chicken, out I'm not shy either. Dingleinthevillage you seem to have mastered the emoticons. The instructions make no sense to me. I can only manage a smilie using punctuation, Colon and parenthesis :)

MaryzBoychildCheeszuzCrizpz · 30/12/2013 23:33

Oh, yes, Custy is right.

The secret is hiding reams and reams of topics. Hundreds of them.

All the locals and all the ante, post natal threads, conception, pregnancy, feeding (the whole fucking lot), pooing (the whole lot again), most of parenting, reams of shite.

You get the interesting bits coming up in active then.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 30/12/2013 23:35

Use one square bracket - like this [ then, without a gap, type the word next to the emoticon - eg grin or thanks or wine or sad - then, again with no gap, deploy the second square bracket ]

So you type [ grin ] - but without the gaps.

And you use * either side of a word or phrase to bold it, ^ either side to italicise it, and -- either side to cross it out (again, no gaps between the symbol and the start/end of the word/phrase.

Mine are adults but still sit around the table like baby birds, mouths agape waiting for morsels from me.

leavesalmondoutofit · 31/12/2013 00:53

Blush didn't know I had square brackets.

leavesalmondoutofit · 31/12/2013 00:54

Thank You Wine Flowers

Dingleinthevillage · 31/12/2013 04:56

Square brackets were new to me too. They sneaked in like punctuation love handles.

I have no children. The support the TTC and IVF threads have given me has been invaluable.

Oh and I prefer the term child free to childless, so much more positive.
