I am on my own today. OH is working and then will be going to football. There is an out-of-town shopping centre about half an hour away. So - aibu to go and see what is around?

Why do you want permission from a bunch of strangers?

UsedToBeNDP · 26/12/2013 10:11

No, why would you be being U?

We have a houseful today (17), lovely H is catering for them all. I have other jobs to do to prepare for the onslaught. In my case it would be U to bugger off to the sales, but in yours, not so much.

It will be hideous though, you know that?

Flossyfloof · 26/12/2013 10:14

Only cos I can't decide. AIBU for asking then?
I went on Boxing Day a few years ago, it wasn't so hideous that I remember it being so. When I was younger we used to be terribly shocked at people forgoing Christmas time with the family to go and queue up outside the shops but things are so different now. I am also doing 5:2 and it's a fasting day so it would make the day easier.

Round these parts folk would step on their blind granny for a reduced acrylic jumper

Flossyfloof · 26/12/2013 10:19

Cashmere for me dahling, all the way! OH wants a jumper if I go.

Flossyfloof · 26/12/2013 10:41

Oh, I am miles away, sorry. I am going to McArthur Glen in Mansfield. Thanks for your permission though! Yes, you really know how to live, don't you? I am going to get an IPad and a new telly but not today. Today is all about moi!
When I needed an integrated dishwasher they quoted me £600 from the place I got the kitchen done. I spent hours and hours trying to sort one out and in the end went with them as it was so hard to work out if I could get one to fit the door. Best of luck with that one.

Yes go...I would! I'm quite jealous actually...I love a look at the sales even if I don't buy anything!

Mosschops30 · 26/12/2013 10:51

What are you buying today then flossy?
We have a MacArthur glen here, I love it for Gap, hillfiger and ted baker

Flossyfloof · 26/12/2013 10:55

Just having a look really. There is a big Next (you can get some dodgy stuff there though) and a nice M and S. Hilfiger has opened since we were there a few weeks ago, I will look in there for OH but I don't bother about labels. I am very cheap to keep. I really need to get up in a minute and get cracking instead of buggering around on here!

Unreasonable? No. Mental? Yes.

I'd rather stick pins in my eyes, but you fill your boots.

Trills · 26/12/2013 13:23

I know what you mean about fast days - I only did 5:2 for a little while (it made me grumpy) but if you are by yourself it's much easier to be out and about doing something than at home near to lots of easily-eaten things.

raisah · 26/12/2013 15:19

I got to Next at 9:30am today and the queues were busier (30 plus) then the amount of people on the shop floor. I waited 30 minutes to be served for 3 items, there were only 2 tills open and 6 people serving behind the counter.

All the good stuff had gone by the time I got there. The lady in front of me bought £870.00 worth of clothes, no doubt to sell on e-bay. I was a bit cross that all the 4 year boy coats had sold out probably made it into that woman's basket.

Dontletthemgetyoudown · 26/12/2013 15:25

I refuse to go shopping on Boxing Day we have a nice relaxing day. The dc playing with their presents. Adults say around talking or watching films. Picnic tea and trying to create a bit of organisation.

I've just spent months shopping for Christmas the shops should be shut Boxing Day and the last thing I want to do is go to a busy shopping centre.

But if you want to then why not?

Flossyfloof · 26/12/2013 18:14

Well I did!! Got some cards from M and S for next year, two of those lovely silk tops from Phase Eight, half price and some fabulous high magenta boots. And I can get them on. So - I wnbu. At all.

Mosschops30 · 26/12/2013 18:22

Well done flossy

I got a integrated dishwasher, tumble drier and new home phone
Oh and an offer of a date from the man in Currys GrinGrin

Your shopping sounds much more fun SmileSmile

Capricorn76 · 26/12/2013 18:52

Go. I hate shopping and was just popping into Boots first thing to buy some medicine when I walked past a shop with a lovely dress in the window. 5 minutes later I was back outside with 3 children's French Connection dresses down from a total of £155 to £27!! Am still dubious as to whether one of the dresses was genuinely originally £80 for a 3 year old but they are lovely.

MidniteScribbler · 26/12/2013 19:39

I normally avoid the sales like the plague, but I needed a new fridge, so mustered my courage and went. Got served within about three minutes, fridge delivered two hours later. Very impressed.

Plus my favourite clothing shop had a 50% off everything sale (which they've never done before) so I was forced to go there and buy many, many new clothes. Good day out :)
