Seriously, we have not got much Christmas was a squeeze, but we have food, kids are happy with their presents, we have power!! After a power cut. It's just us this year, seeing family tomorrow, but really,I feel so fortunate (still have alcohol, not sure how long for though!) Not trying to be smug, just trying to show appreciation. :)

I'm in Diss! Where did you move from? I've been here for 13 years now. The Pulhams are lovely.

Toomanyworriedsonhere · 25/12/2013 17:56

My step mum in Pulham market too! Next time we're up I'll have to wear the scarf or carry a mug round the village. Small world Xmas Grin

Lovely day at my parents' house. We decided that we would go there as mum is frail now and not really happy out of her own home. It created some logistical issues as we cooked at my sister's and transported it there, but all worth it for mums face when she saw her dining room all set up with her lovely things which don't get an outing these days.
Home with DD now and having a rest before going over the road to ex BiL's (long story - probably outing self here!) for a drink and silly games.

Toomanyworriedsonhere · 25/12/2013 18:01

ODFOD is my fave mnet acronym so you're on!

ProfYaffle · 25/12/2013 18:02

Oh, does Santa still work at The Pelican? Years ago we saw him running a beer tent at the South Norfolk Festival, since then we've explained to the dc that's his 364 days a year job! Not seen him since though.

I moved from Warrington so a bit of a shock to the system.

NotMissMiranda · 25/12/2013 18:04

I look at my 2 boys & can't believe how lucky they are, they're the most amazing, lovely little boys in the world (I know we all feel like this). But I'm truly blessed to have them in my world.

Weegiemum · 25/12/2013 18:04

We're very chilled out too. For the first time in at least 10 years it's just us for Christmas - no visitors. Dc are happy (ecstatic in the case of ds!) with their presents, lunch was great, dh is having a nap, along with dd2, even the kitten and the rabbit have chilled out and are dozing together on the sofa.......

Now where did I put the Ben&Jerry's and the dessert wine?

WilsonFrickett · 25/12/2013 18:09

It's just the three of us this year, my DPs are at my brothers. DS isn't even dressed, he thought it would be fun to spend the day in jammies. I'm just girding my loins for the actual cooking bit... Hearing stories like Umlafs puts it all into perspective really. A merry Christmas to all and to all a good night. Hic and where did I put the parboiled potatoes again?

HicDraconis · 25/12/2013 18:11

YANBU!

We had a fab Christmas - relaxed, lots of food left over for Boxing Day buffet, boys were thrilled with their presents, lots of games and laughing and family hanging out time (& I dozed for 2h after lunch while DH cleared up :) )

Joining you in the feeling lucky group! Although not in the living near other group, I'm 12000 miles away :)

Umlauf · 25/12/2013 18:47

Aside from a room off limits Christmas is unchanged really! We can replace bricks and mortar (& cars Sad ) but my ds has had an irreplaceable first Christmas with power, food and family. Xmas Smile

linroz · 25/12/2013 18:53

Brilliant day just me and the 4 kids, delicious lunch all happy with presents now just relaxing on sofa watching tv merry Christmas all x

MissAnnersley · 25/12/2013 18:55

We have had a brilliant day today. DS is beside himself about his presents. We are just home from my brother's house, having had lovely food and wine in front of a coal fire.

It's the best Christmas I've had in years.

MalibuAndMilkPleaseLibertine · 25/12/2013 19:14

cardi that's a lovely thing to do, well worth the effort :)

hic are you somewhere lovely?

Am looking forward to Danny dyer making an appearance on enders, sad I know, but I used to really fancy him Blush

Another one feeling lucky - very relaxed, just us, no cooking, no entertaining, watching telly and playing games, rides on new toys - and our favourite friends coming tomorrow xxxx

OHforDUCKSchristmasCake · 25/12/2013 19:37

I felt the same today OP.

Merry Christmas.

Smile
ironmansmum · 25/12/2013 23:35

Bless your heart! You are so right, we are all lucky. Lucky to be here (not preachy as not religious but you know
where I'm coming from). Merry Christmas!!!!!!x

FandangoLaLaLaLaLaLaLaaaa · 25/12/2013 23:52

Glad you're all okay and that you still had a great Christmas Umlauf.

I feel fantastically lucky. I have a wonderful DP and DS, lovely food and am off work until jan 6th.

We've been to visit both families. MiL and her DM did their usual "Christmas Day is such a sad time" routine (no reason they have loads of lovely presents/food/visitors, they just get pissed and maudlin) but we didn't let it bring us down Grin.

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night Wine

MyCarHasBrokenDownAgain · 26/12/2013 00:16

I'm feeling lucky too - just spent 1.5 hours in SILs car with her in tears, after she'd rowed with BIL (hours before we arrived, long story). I definitely got the best bro, despite all his faults Grin.

Envying those in Diss though, we have friends in Gissing, have spent crimbo there before, it's beautiful!
