So I am now in a tiz because my 'd'h had the bedroom window open as always except tonight it was blowing a gale, raining and the door was banging in its frame. So after 2 hours of not sleeping in this, and feeling like I'm outside in a tent, I shut the window and he has gone downstairs in some sort of huff, announcing 'you know I can't sleep without the window open', making me feel like the baddie! Prick face. We don't even have heating on in the bedroom, at a guess I'd say it was between 16 - 18 degrees in here with the window shut and I feel comfortable naked. Am I being unreasonable because I wanted to be able to sleep without the sound of a tornado in my ears, or is he being a wank badger?

I think wank badger is a bit extreme if the issue is an open/closed window! But it is v windy and you should close it before the ornaments blow off the shelf and start another argument

AgentZigzag · 24/12/2013 00:40

He's BU because it was keeping you awake and he doesn't need the window open to sleep he's probably just got into the routine of pushing to have it open.

Could he be more arsey than he'd normally be because he's just woken up? I'm about 100 fold more arsey when I have, so I can understand how in his head he'd justify snapping at you.

What's he like normally?

If he's a reasonable bloke then I'd just put it down to being tired/woken up, if he has to have everything his way or there'll be tantrums, then that'll be the problem.

I'm feeling rather rageful at present, partly based on fail sex earlier (baby woke up in the other room, put him off), and partly because I think the other reason he has gone downstairs is so he doesn't have to hear the baby with a cold crying for mummy! I'm still cross about the window though

Awww Thanks you must be tired as well.

Is he going downstairs because he finds the baby crying for you upsetting to hear, because it's disturbing his sleep, or is it because he doesn't want to get up for them?

Mellowandfruitful · 24/12/2013 00:50

It's high winds out there and he wants the window open? Seriously? You're better off with him in another room. I wonder if he has opened a window downstairs?

Couldn't he have a fan on instead if he likes to sleep with a breeze/air in the room? That way too it could be directed at him rather than you both having to sleep in those conditions.

HeartShapedBox · 24/12/2013 00:51

from what you've said, he sounds like a knob-end. it's a fucking raging storm outside, ffs!

magicballs · 24/12/2013 00:52

Well I've just been downstairs for the loo (to annoy him really) and the windows are now all open downstairs, he says its because he can't sleep with the window shut. In reality I'm quite sure he can, he is just used to it being open in all weathers, as it has been for the past 40 years. I did say I can't sleep with the sound of wind rushing through my ears and doors banging, and worrying the window was going to smash shut. He's still sleeping downstairs, and on the plus side I've realised I have the whole bed all night. So silver linings. He is BU tho

Grin at silver linings.

Enjoy them.

YouTheCat · 24/12/2013 00:59

I'm sure he'll still think it's a great idea when some opportunistic burglar climbs through your downstairs windows and nicks all your Christmas presents.

It is freezing and blowing a gale. Get him a shed.

magicballs · 24/12/2013 01:04

Yes YoutheCat that's a good point, also when dd and myself come down in the morning it will probably be freezing cold downstairs and we'll have to spend money on heating. Blinking husbands, honestly who'd have one. I'm thinking of advertising mine for sale: part owned, barely used DH for sale by owner. Looks young for age, but creaks and moans a bit. Can make a decent pizza but do not trust near cake or chocolate. Will need large open areas for walkies.
We do own a shed but I think I'd be the unreasonable one if I made him sleep down there

He prefers to sleep with window open, you have come shut the window, so that he is now uncomfortable. He has then got out of the warm bed to somewhere else, thus leaving you comfortable and he is the wank badger?

magicballs · 24/12/2013 01:15

It was tongue in cheek, thanks for correcting me!
