I would imagine 3 days before christmas isn't a good time to start telling people that!

Doubtfuldaphne · 22/12/2013 21:11

Damn you're right.. I'd better make room for more of it

Can you recycle any bits that aren't being used anymore? Charity shop or local kids ward?

AgentZigzag · 22/12/2013 21:17

I love brightly coloured plastic tat, for the time it's amused the DD's over the years it's definitely worth more than what's been paid for it.

Young children always seem to get attached to the smallest most insignificant items of the tat group, like mcdonalds toys or something out of a cracker, leaving the £30 tat item gathering dust in the corner Confused

I'll trade you the dressing table or slide for one of the 3 (might be 4 now, I've lost count!) toy dog grooming sets. There's at least 10 parts in each damn set, and they come in these lovely carry cases with big holes in them, in the shape of paw prints, so all the damn bits fall out whenever you try to tidy them up. What do you say? Grin

We did, but gave people notice, I.e. gently suggested to relatives a few months ago when xmas was mentioned that we didnt really have any more toys so either to buy something small / give money / vouchers for books / or buy an experience (ice skating session / cinema ticket / soft play entry etc). I think they were relieved actually to avoid toy shops!

Mandy21 · 22/12/2013 21:21

Sorry - didnt really have room for any more toys...

AwfulMaureen · 22/12/2013 21:25

YANBU to not want any more but you will need to be proactive about it. My friend has an Amazon wishlist...for her DS and DD. There are things on it ranging from 1.99 to about 20 pounds and they're all GOOD things like books, pens, crafty things...some good quality wooden toys...

foreverondiet · 22/12/2013 23:16

Too late for this year but we also do amazon wish list. We discuss together what they would like, have mix of things at range of prices - all stuff people want to buy eg audio books, Lego, craft stuff, board games - I try and work out how many presents have have roughly that any things on list so they usually get most of it - generally ranging in price £5-£25 as wouldn't want anyone to spend more than £25 (generally my parents and dh parents would spend that, most stuff less). Then I tell all relations about wish list just incase they don't know what to buy...
Ds2 for his birthday got Thomas take and play trains from everyone - he has played with them every day (since April)...
