to not want to spend time with work colleagues during Christmas holidays?

Dh's boss, and my boss, (different companies) have each invited us to a Christmas party at their homes. I know that's nice of them, but we both feel the same, that although our jobs are ok , we like the prospect of finishing for the holidays and not having to see or think about work people till 6 Jan! We're not antisocial miseries, we like seeing friends and family over Christmas, just not people from work!

I agree, and would imagine a polite decline is sufficient - it is an invite, not a summons.

If needs be, you erm..."are away for a good few days seeing family" Wink

It's valid to feel that way, but equally valid for colleagues to enjoy spending some time together.
