Or am I the only mother who would rather stick holly leaves in my eyes that sit through the school christmas play?

Even if my PFB is the actual lead?

Lets face it, I wouldn't be going if PFB or PSB weren't in it.

I have a hangover. I am tired.

There will be singing.

It's a fucking Pantomime!!!

I have never been to a pantomime before. I have no yen to go to one. Audience makes me want to kill people. Child performers make me want to kick things.

The whole experience makes me shudder and I can't think of an acceptable excuse to not go.

Obviously I am turribly enthusiastic and supportive in front of the PFB but inside I am nauseous.

And did I mention the hangover.

There was a whole thread last year when someone who did want to go, but couldn't because of work was being extensively castigated by weirdos who kept telling her that not only should she be yearning tearfully to go to her own child's performance but that all her child's little friends should equally be twanging her heartstrings. Even though she was exhausted and ill and overworked. Lots of those 'well I would stay up till midnight if it meant I could get a glimpse of my child being Third Gnome From the Left' posts.

oh god, sports day, I wouldn't do it when I was a kid, I'll be damned if I'm going to to a field at my time of life and make a tit of myself trying to run with an egg or jump inside a sack or something.

I think the parents' race at sports day is simply the teacher's revenge for all the complaints and crap they get through the year Grin

really? poor bugger. Honestly, some people need a whole box full of grips. Maybe even a shipping container jam packed with the things.

God, we've got the Nativity tonight. We weren't going to go, because logistically it's a bloody nightmare, but DD came home from school yesterday saying that "Mrs XXX says that anyone who doesn't turn up for the Nativity is selfish and spoiling it for everyone else. Kids that don't go are going to lose outside play to tidy the church"

Now I'm bloody furious about that - what kind of teacher uses emotional blackmail and threats on 7 and 8 year olds? Especially as it's a whole school event, the reception kids play the 'characters' (no speaking parts) and the rest of the school just sings.

But it's worked. DD was damn near hysterical so I ended up promising to take her, and ill be rushing round like a blue arsed fly tonight to try and fit everything in. Christmas cheer my arse.

I dont like them either, but what's worse it the next day at school. All the "wasn't the play good" "The kids were amazing weren't they" comments that I have to smile and nod to. Im another who really doesn't give a shiney shit about other people's children. Obviously Id never want any child to come to any harm, but I really dont care about them.

DS really didn't want to do it and TBF as it was at 6PM I was uncertain if he had to, but as DD1 was doing it I said he might as well.

Thank god its only once a year.
