AIBU?

To ask how you pronounce Maoam? As in the sweets?

I always say "Mow-Am" with the "mow" rhyming with "pow!" But I heard a woman saying "Here's a moam for you and a moam for you" with the "moam" to rhyme with MOAN.

Hmm

My thinking is that "Mao" is like Chairman Mao...I know that's not the way to think since Maoams are not Asian sweets...but heck...how DO you say it?

Mow (like pow) am but with emphasis on 'am' rather than mow. Have never had to say it as my children would rather have celery sticks with linseed sprinkled on than sweets, but have pondered on this whilst queuing at Budgens tills & realised it's like the noise that I make when eating something sumptuous (like the tinned ravioli with grated cheese on top that I had for my staff lunch every Saturday in my first weekend job-I stopped when I caught myself doing it). Now I see a Maoam & I think ravioli & my mouth waters...

Mee ow, cause that how ds said it and it's stuck. I annoy myself over the incorrect way.

Mow (like cow) am I know is the correct way.

MOW-WAM. With the "mow" rhyming with "cow"

The advert jingle says so.

"Mow-wam. M-A-O-A-M. Mow-wam. Soft fruit flavour chew" etc Blush

Mow-wam is how the kids at school say it, with the mow rhyming with cow.

Am I the only person to have absolutely no idea what you are talking about? What are these sweets and why have I never seen them?
