It wasn't working that well and is a bit old and the tablets weren't really disintegrating so I squirted wul in and this seems to be Ok ish a bit better but why do I feel like I have broken a terrible taboo.....

I tell you what if "wul" means washing up liquid then the acronym obsession of Mumsnet has truly gone too far.

WUL ??

REALLY ???

MiniMonty · 17/12/2013 03:27

I may issue a code book, print a few up and sell them on eBay...
(but only a few)....

I have used WUPLIQ Grin in my dishwasher - only a tiny squirt though.

All this talk of salt and filters though... I have had mine for 10 years and have never put salt in it or cleaned filters, I just drop in dishwasher tablet. PLEASE could someone explain - is it something to do with hard/soft water? Dishes always come out sparkling! Grin

PigletJohn · 17/12/2013 07:37

Then it's time you did.

MrsLouisTheroux · 17/12/2013 08:23

piglet Why ?
Grin

PigletJohn · 17/12/2013 11:21

very often I hear people say "I hadn't cleaned my filters in two years, and when I did, they were full of tealeaves, peas, bacon fat, chicken bones and cods' heads."

It is like the grating in your sink plug hole, but the fine one is finer than a sieve.

Tulip26 · 17/12/2013 11:25

I clean mine by chucking a bottle of white vinegar all around and running it on a quick wash. Comes out gleaming!

PigletJohn · 17/12/2013 11:28

and how do you get the tealeaves and chicken bones out of the filter?

FunnyFestiveTableRunner · 17/12/2013 11:33

Piglet which bit is the filter? Blush

My inner child is demanding that I go and do a 'WUL' wash just to see what happens. Must resist, must resist! :o

lostblonde86 · 17/12/2013 11:33

Clean your filter, check your salt level then put on hottest wash without anything in it. If I don't regularly keep on top of the above (about once a month) items don't come out so clean and tablets don't always devolve, also have same problem if hubby uses it Grin. Hope you get it working soon

Runner

look for the brand and model. there may be numbers engraved on the top edge of the door.

Then search for a webpage equivalent to this

uncomfortablydumb · 17/12/2013 12:35

Wul was standard acronym when I worked in a supermarket gazillion years ago & tk for ketchup. Think it listed on the stock orders like that.

Anyway wul regularly buggers up the dishwasher at the office when some dimwit uses it despite multiple signs not to.

Heed PigletJohn he's brill at this stuff!

PigletJohn · 17/12/2013 12:52

WUL is what your Tesco receipt says.

Katiepoes · 17/12/2013 13:37

Someone did this in an office I worked in - the foam went down the corridor. Twice! We suspect it was the same person that kept loading cups in right way up so the gammy water could slop over whatever unfortunate opened it.

I thought Wul was your family pet at first...that does not send a good message about me does it?

SheldonsLeftFlipFlop · 17/12/2013 14:21

Erm I develop washing up liquid (and we call it WUL in our industry) and I can assure you that it is not a good idea at all to use it in a dishwasher!!!

What I can also tell you is that there is ball all difference really between the more expensive and cheaper dishwasher tablets.

foreverondiet · 17/12/2013 19:14

It did it once and ended up with kitchen full of bubbles!
