Is there an age where they cease to be acceptable? (or normal .....?)

Also hair flowers!

And two masters degrees.

Oh yeah. Me.

I wear my hair in two braids. If I have an extra two minutes, I put them up into a crown with pins. It keeps it out of the way, and more importantly, out of my baking!

AChristmassyJerseySpud · 17/12/2013 13:53

im 29 and wore glittery hair bows to the Beavers Christmas party last night...

Sparklymommy · 17/12/2013 14:14

Had this disagreement discussion with my sister last year. My dd is 10, and currently wears her hair in bunchies, braids, however creative I am feeling when I do it! She wears ribbons, flowers, again depending on how creative and how much time we have. My sister (who has all boys) feels by the age of 12 this should stop. I disagree.

Dd performs a lot and often has to have her hair in bunchies or braids, and I know this is mainly to make her look younger, and cutesy. So what? There isn't an age limit in my view.

fatlazymummy · 17/12/2013 14:17

About 4 or 5.

MrPoppy · 17/12/2013 14:19

Top age? No
Bottom age? Well I don't look at those little babies with their hair bands/flowers and think 'now there's a baby who knows how to accessorize' tbh
(but that's a whole other thread)

MrsUptight · 17/12/2013 14:24

I disagree. Flowers are meant to accentuate youth...they're there as a comparison..."look at the loveliness of my face...it's as nice as the rose in my hair"

Whereas once the plump cheek and bright eyes have faded, flowers in hair makes on look more witch-like than fairy-like.

tibbysmum · 17/12/2013 14:32

49 here. Currently sporting several bright red lilies in my hair. Don't give a flying fuck what anyone else thinks, I like them! Smile

Wishihadabs · 17/12/2013 14:34

I wore my hair pulled back into two little low buns or bunches accesorised with flowers throughout my early twenties, particularly appalling with a tight and tanned flash of midrift peeking above the short shorts (summer) or hot pants (winter). I looked as cute as a button and twice as sexy (think baby spice but fitter). So this top infants stuff is crap.

However I am now the wrong side of 35 and to attempt such a look would be delusional in the first order.

Wishihadabs · 17/12/2013 14:41

But I do wear plants under my ski helmet (only practical style). So they are seen at lunch time. It is quite an alpine thing too do though so don't worry too much.

NuggetofPurestGreen · 17/12/2013 15:23

Grin at 'particularly appalling'. And plants under your helmet.

Wishihadabs · 17/12/2013 15:56

Bloody spell check

SantyClaws · 17/12/2013 16:13

YY to low bunches or plaits under ski helmets - it's the only comfy way to tie it back.... loving the auto corrects

but everyone looks a sweaty bag o'shite at lunchtime so it doesn't matter - apart from the glam queens who don't actually ski, of course Grin

GoldenGytha · 17/12/2013 16:24

DDs are 22 and 20 and both wear flowers, and flower garlands in their nearly waist length hair,

I am 46, and have hair just past my shoulders, and I sometimes wear small flower clips in mine.

Don't think there is an "age" People can wear what they want.

HopeForTheBest · 17/12/2013 16:36

About 9 years ago, I visited China for work, and one of the things that really struck me was how grown women wore beautiful, often very intricate, hair accessories. It really inspired me!

Oh, and loads wore their hair in plaits - it's a very neat and practical way of tying back your hair.

I don't have the right head shape for ponytails - I look like a potato that's grown hair. But bunches or plaits sort of even it out and look good.

I'm in the wear it if you want to wear it camp.

MostWicked · 17/12/2013 17:38

I'm in my 40s with long straight hair, and I wear ribbons or bows occasionally. I don't go for girly or frilly stuff as that doesn't suit me, but there are plenty of hair accessories that look great at different ages.

coffeeslave · 17/12/2013 19:47

If you wear them after the age of N, the Hair Bow Police come and cut your bow AND your hair off. It's true!
