Couldn't make dentist appt - are they annoyed?

Basically my kids had check-up appointments at the dentist after school but I couldn't make it. I completely forgot to phone them up (my fault I know).

They phoned up the day before to confirm and I did say I would be there. They haven't rang me up either to find out why I couldn't make it. Normally they would call if you are 15 mins late but they didn't.

Should I ring them up or not? They have their next check-up appointment in 6 months time (May). Should I wait to see if they send me a reminder like they normally do or not?

so this was over a month ago and you have done nothing about it? why suddenly start asking us then?

My dentist charges £30 for missed appointments which I got stung by, but was my fault I missed it.

Woops...was going to say, i'm amazed you needed to come on here to ask if you should call them. It's common decency.

I think your apology is a month too late, good luck finding a new NHS dentist...

IamInvisible · 16/12/2013 21:36

You should have phoned to apologise at the first available opportunity. It does sound like it is not the first time you have done it. They are quite within their rights to either charge you (children, NHS, or not doesn't matter) or remove you from the list.

Just phone them. They will appreciate it. People do make mistakes and generally they will be cool about it if you are genuinely sorry, and not miserable sods like most on this thread.. (am a dental receptionist)

It really winds me up when people don't phone and cancel their appointment. When you have people who have been in a lot of dental pain over the weekend and need a dentist asap can't see one for a few more days because someone cant be bothered to ring up ( emergencies aside) it seems cruel to the other people suffering.

greeneyes1978 · 16/12/2013 21:49

My friend is an NHS dentist and I didn't realise they are self employed. By not turning up it has cost your dentist two check up fees she should have had as they get paid by appointment.

Think you should ring and apologise really.

samandi · 17/12/2013 09:21

You couldn't make the appointment despite confirming the day before.

You "forgot" to telephone to say you couldn't make it, even though you had confirmed the day before.

You know that they "usually" call if you are 15 minutes late.

Sounds like you need to grow up, get yourself organised and stop messing everyone around.
