To give the mother of a 3yo a yankee candle wax tart burner?

I mean is she going to think I hate her child and wish molten wax burns upon her or do you think she'll just exercise caution and keep it out of reach and maybe only use it when dd is in bed?

I have a 4 year old. I would have no problem with being given something like that, I would just light it when he was in bed

expatinscotland · 14/12/2013 19:34

Why not? I have one and when my kids were younger I'd put it somewhere they couldn't get it or use it when they were in bed.

ChristmasJumperWearer · 14/12/2013 19:34

Or give it to the charity shop.

Writerwannabe83 · 14/12/2013 19:35

Yankee Candles are great - people are always buying them for me, I can't get enough!!

I'm currently pregnant and now you have made me worry that it will all come to a stop once baby arrives, lol Grin I will have to make sure that everyone is aware that I have no objections to Yankee candles!! Grin

I think you are worrying over nothing - however, if you do decide not to give it to her then you can send it to me instead Smile

I have a 2 yo open fires and a log burning stove, I also use candles believe me keeping my daughter safe from burns is easy.

FortyMerryFuckers · 14/12/2013 19:41

My DS is 7 but I have always used Yankee candles even when he was small. I would love it if you gave me one.

NoArmaniNoPunani · 14/12/2013 19:43

Why is it called a tart burner? I thought that was a typo in the title until I googled

EvaBeaversProtege · 14/12/2013 19:43

Why would this even be an issue?

My children (12&9) have grown up with candles lit around my home, I've never had an issue with them. They've always known not to touch them.

Thosescalesarewrong · 14/12/2013 19:44

Thanks for your comments. Not got any children myself and didn't want her to think I'm a kiddie hater. CJW - you're off my christmas list now. Charity shop indeed!

I think that's a lovely present. Last year I was given a Scentsy burner (an American brand and you plug the burner in) and I love it. My DS was 2 then. I used it during the day and he never went near it.

Glimmerberry · 14/12/2013 20:15

I wouldn't want one - I don't like burning chemicals in the house. Most scented candles burn off some pretty toxic stuff.

Thosescalesarewrong · 14/12/2013 20:35

Ok, so serious injury by wax tart burns now looks unlikely, but death by chemical fumes is now on the cards. Maybe a voucher is best after all

Well................ act-u-ally on QVC (where they do regular Yankee shows) they call them wax melts now (because people snigger at tarts ) Xmas Grin

If it was a lighted flame issue, there are electric melters (safer with animals too)

And make sure to use a plain, unscented Tealight to heat it. The scented ones burn with a higher flame.
