Every staff member in Tesco was wearing one today. They are all over the shops.
They aren't even funny any more. Enough.

They were all wearing them in my Tesco this morning.
I don't won't wear one but the teens on all till were enjoying them. It's a bit of fun and something to talk about apart from the weather.
It made me smile, which is not something I often do in Tesco.

Everyones going round dressed like Christmas trees here. Hmm

Don't do the whole jumper thing........Da has got a Stewie (( family guy )) wearing a Santa hat tshirt tho.

NoComet · 14/12/2013 12:14

I like them on shop staff, they are fun.

I wish M&S had their staff in them, their present over fussy crimpoline uniform is truly awful.

The dresses are so awful I can't find a web picture to inflict on you (I guess no one admits to wearing them)

TheGirlOnTheLanding · 14/12/2013 12:14

Skinny, a friend who works for them was certainly ordered to wear one, maybe it differs from region to region. Sorry to unintentionally offend you.

HesterShaw · 14/12/2013 12:15

Are they a thing? I've never seen them before this year.

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 14/12/2013 12:17

Oh and Christmas jumper day fucked me right off.

At a time when we,re collecting toys and food parcels to give some children a little bit of Christmas families are expected to pull money out of their arses to buy a useless jumper so little Timmy isn't the odd one out yet again. Leaving the kids who won't have one feeling a bit shit.

Load of crap

MinesAPintOfTea · 14/12/2013 12:17

I think the waste involved is horrendous. Why buy an item of clothing you can only wear for 2 weeks? Buy a nice woollen jumper to add to your wardrobe and wear it Oct-April instead [fsensible]

TheGirlOnTheLanding · 14/12/2013 12:21

Agreed, MinesAPint. Although the Killing Does Christmas Jumpers video to promote the whole thing did make me laugh quite a lot.

fatlazymummy · 14/12/2013 12:22

It's silly to buy a special jumper specifically to participate in a charity event. My daughter's school did the charity thing yesterday, they said that any jumper would do.

trikken · 14/12/2013 12:32

I work for Tesco. We are not ordered to wear a christmas jumper. It is to raise money for charity and a bit of fun. Ours is on tues. Im joining in.

trikken · 14/12/2013 12:33

Plus I already had the jumper.

BruthasTortoise · 14/12/2013 12:39

I thought the idea with Christmas jumpers is that they are put away with the decorations and brought out again the following year - so not necessarily that wasteful. Also my DH works for Tesco and they've never been ordered to wear anything other than uniform - dress up days are voluntary and entirely optional. If your friend has been ordered then they need to get their union rep involved (unless the store is providing the jumpers as part of the uniform).

CockyMcChicken · 14/12/2013 12:42

I work for tesco and will be wearing a Christmas jumper. They are a lot comfier than the uniform!

formerbabe · 14/12/2013 14:21

An an absolute waste of money to buy a jumper you can only wear for 2 weeks of the year.

NoComet · 14/12/2013 15:38

What about a bikini, you wear them 2weeks a year

I tend to one week hot holidays and it's the only time you'll catch me in shorts!

I have a full blown evening dress that's been worn twice (and cost a great deal more than a Christmas jumper).

I don't see a problem for shop workers and older students and people who are going to be able to wear them for several days and bring them out next year.

For one day, for a primary aged child, who will be back in uniform tomorrow and have grown by next year, they are a bit daft.

That said I have bought DN one for Christmas (I'm hoping it's huge and she'll get to use it next year too).

Sparklingbrook · 14/12/2013 15:46

YY the problem with Christmas jumpers for DC is them growing, and not able to wear the same one year after year.

I got DS1 (14) a Christmas T shirt last year-Ds2 will have it this year then that will be it.

They used to be very naff and worn shamefully when the person who bought them came round.

Ron Weasley's jumpers don't make sense as a story if they are "fashionable". The point is that Ron and brothers all hate them, but Harry is so touched to have a present that he doesn't mind that it's a hideous present.
