I know, I know, it's not the worst thing that ever happened but I was shopping this morning and it was v warm in the shop so I took off my beautiful cosy cream cashmere cardigan and looped it over my bag. When I got to the till with my hands full of toys it had fallen off. I tried to find it but it was gone and no-one has handed it in. Sob! I'm very sad, I loved it and I had saved up to buy it. Bloody toys.

It would make an amazing film of love and loss, with a happy ending for my cardie!

I'm so happy for you and your cardi! I still mourn the demise of a beautiful white cotton top that had magical powers - even though it is over 3 years since its fateful passing at the hands of our then puppy.
It was a sleeveless summer top, really soft white cotton, with lots of sort of layers of ruffly bits at the front - which in theory should've made the wearer look bigger, but which actually, magically, made them look A LOT slimmer.
It was from Top Shop and I'd had it for a couple of years when pup pulled it down from washing line outside, dragged it round garden, and chewed massive holes in it Sad

Congrats!!

I lost a scarf that way (looped over a bag) in Austin, Texas.

It was a scarf that some friends had given me for my 21st birthday. :(

And yes I did need a scarf earlier that day even tough it was Texas - it has been chilly and pissing it down with rain (everyone was very surprised!).

Ohh congrats, OP. I was sad about your cardi too, it sounded lovely - and now it's returned to its devoted owner. Result! Grin

Aw I love a happy ending

not quite the same dreams of cashmere

but I had this amazing pj set. it was beautiful, so utterly comfortable. I adored it.

3week old dd did a squirting at speed of light, no nappy, korma style poo- Spraying all over my pj bottoms and my equally as beautiful, but despite being much much more expensive and according to dh more important, as if! cream rug from habitat. This poop I kid you not, lasted over a minute- I couldn't move and it felt like I was being tortured while I looked down in disbelief about what was happening. I have never quite forgiven her three years later.

Glad you've been reunited, OP! Smile

MelanieCheeks · 17/12/2013 15:55

Hurrah!

I thought I'd lost my Jaegar cashmere scarf (what is it about cashmere that gives it such wanderlust?) on a trip to Scotland in September. I was trying to be magnanimous about hoping it was enjoying its stay in the glens, and being appreciated by whoever adopted it.....

....and it turned up in my pyjama drawer!

As a friend remarked - you say pyjama, I say pashmina.

I love stories like this.

I genuinely believe the vast majority of people are lovely and will want to return even an expensive item like this if they find it!

I once put a beloved handbag with my wallet and god knows what else down in the middle of a shop in Oxford Street in London before Christmas, and walked off. I just had a complete brain meltdown. I was immediately thinking to myself that someone would definitely have walked off with it, thinking the worst of everyone. But someone handed it in.

I have had valuables returned to me twice. Smile I am a bit of a dapsy cow.

I once lost a cardi. Was only from M&S but was lovely and drapy and tied with a big ribbon and just looked lovely. Think I left it at the stinky swimming pool watching lessons. Sob.

wishingchair · 17/12/2013 15:59

Yeah - no bugger handed in my cardi. I repeatedly asked!
