To not send Christmas cards this year?

I just don't want to. I hate doing it. DH sits beside me rolling his eyes giving out about what a waste of money and time it is. I always swore I would never start but I somehow got sucked into it by all the other people who kept sending me cards.
This year we moved house so do I have to get change of address cards done, or do I have to write it in the card?
I really can't face it. Anyway what is the point of sending cards to in laws, parents, siblings. I am going to see them all over Christmas anyhow?

I've just sent all mine and if I'd've known how much they'd cost to send before I wrote them I wouldn't have bothered £28 to send 2nd class! YANBU!

Yes it is expensive. But it will be noted by my mum. As all the cousins send theirs and no one got one from me. Bla bla

I now just send cards to people who I won't see over Christmas and I think would be a bit offended if I didn't send a card. Previous to that I used to write cards in response to those I received each day (kept a pack in the porch with a pen and a book of stamps) - I found that much less of a chore than sitting down and writing a whole pile. Made the decision not to worry about those I received after the last post.
It has nothing to do with the cost, I just find the whole thing a complete thing tedious and dull.
I can't stand xmas cards in the house now - I put them straight into the recycling after I have read them!

Yanbu, I stopped bothering years ago. I am not a fan of Christmas anyway so always felt it a bit hypocritical. I generally send an email out to the people I don't regularly see wishing them a good time. Really, in this day and age are people bothered anymore? Who has the money to waste?Christmas = retailmas.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 12/12/2013 20:44

I've not sent any for years. I don't think anybody has actually noticed yet.

giantpurplepeopleeater · 12/12/2013 20:48

I just asked if it would be unreasonable not to do Christmas cards on behalf of my 3 yr old to give out to his friends at nursery (FFS! He's 3, he can't even write!) but I like your idea much better.

Sod the lot of it. Christmas cards are out this year. I'm done with them. Long may it live on!!

God I'm a scrooge Blush

I don't bother with Christmas cards any more (particularly not now I have to send most of them overseas). And we rarely tell anyone our new postal address when we move so I haven't received any for years either...

Fairylea · 12/12/2013 20:54

I don't do any at all. If I want to wish someone a happy Christmas I will either ring them and do so or tell them if I bump into them. Close family I will see on Christmas day anyway.

I buy a small pack of cards for dd (aged 10) because it's the done thing at school but I haven't done any for years.

breakinggood ~ I thought I was the only person that read cards then put in the bin Xmas Grin ~ feel so much better to know others do it to!!
