To ask how much your mortgage is per month?

I have put in the amount we pay per month (£460) ino the following link

www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-23234033

And it says paying what we do per month at a "mid priced for the market" 3 bed property would enable us to afford 0% of housing. I appreciate our mortgage is relatively low but was quite shocked by this outcome!

We can afford to live in 25% of the UK but as we live in NI we can actually afford to live where we do - even though we earn less than most of the rest of the uk.

YouAreMyFavouriteWasteOfTime · 12/12/2013 15:15

we have got it down to around 2.3k per month from around twice that.

absentmindeddooooodles · 12/12/2013 15:22

We pay 600 a month. Interest only. :( cant afford to be doing the repayments right now.

chickydoo · 12/12/2013 15:24

Apparently we could afford to live in 99% of properties, that is bonkers!
I put in what our house is worth (mortgage is paid off) and said we could (just) probably afford 1k a month on a new mortgage.

noddyholder · 12/12/2013 15:27

Same chickydoo I know we couldn't though and would have no life!

muchadoaboutsomething · 12/12/2013 15:30

I also has the same as chickydoo, but if I increase my monthly payment to what it was in 2007 I can apparently afford everything as I could afford 100% of property. Shame that isn't actually true. I can't even afford 100% of property in my non London city.
