We had our church bazaar recently, with a Santas Grotto (the converted store room). One dad insisted on going in with his 2 daughters. AIBU to think he was being over-protective?

I don't know anyone who doesn't to be honest

Sirzy · 11/12/2013 13:51

I would have thought given the age of children visiting Santa that most parents would go in.

I would also imagine that for child protection reasons most Grottos would rather children were accompanied.

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 11/12/2013 13:52

Yes!! No way would DS have gone in on his own. What sort of age are you talking about though?

Oreocrumbs · 11/12/2013 13:52

I do but DD is still small, but I presume I will always go in with her - more because I want to see her seeing Father Christmas than anything else. I don't think she is going to come to any harm, I just don't want to miss the magic!

So for me YABU.

Sirzy · 11/12/2013 13:53

Just to clarify my CP point wasn't out of concern that Santa would do something inappropiate, but from the aspect of protecting adults from accusations.

SpockSmashesScissors · 11/12/2013 14:51

Of course parents go into the grotto too, I have never seen any parents not go in with the children.

ilovesmurfs · 11/12/2013 14:53

All Santa's grottos I have ever been to the parents go in wkht the children, many small children are actually a bit scared/overhwelmd by the experience, the need their parents with them, plus you can take pics etc. And they may jsit want to see it!

MrsTerrysChocolateOrange · 11/12/2013 14:53

I always do and always will.

Binkyridesagain · 11/12/2013 14:53

You go in with them to find out what they want from santa.

BreconBeBuggered · 11/12/2013 14:54

I always thought you went in with them in case they had any surprise present requests for Santa.

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 11/12/2013 14:55

Is the problem that there wasn't enough space for the parents to go in? I have always been in with my children.

BitOutOfPractice · 11/12/2013 14:55

I wouldn't cross my mind to NOT go in. It's one of my favourite parts of Christmas. Why would you want to miss it? Plus you never know what they might unexpectedly ask FC for if you're not there to prompt them, sending you into a flat spin of panic!

Why wouldn't you go in? Unless a 'child' is 14 yo... Hmm
You want to take a pic, I guess after shelling out on the experience.

MrsTerrysChocolateOrange · 11/12/2013 15:04

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 11/12/2013 15:04

Might not my.

Minshu · 11/12/2013 15:38

I reckon my shy DD would only be brave enough to go to Santa on her own when she's too old to believe Grin

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 11/12/2013 20:56

OP, come back! I need to know your thinking behind this Grin

halcyondays · 12/12/2013 16:42

yes, everyone goes in with their children ime.

gimcrack · 12/12/2013 17:20

Why wouldn't I go in? I want to see my kids' reaction and help Santa if they go all shy.

goldenlula · 12/12/2013 17:24

Yes I do go in with them, not cp reasons but because I want to share the experience with them and listen out for the surprise requests. Everyone I know goes in with their children.

DoctorRobert · 12/12/2013 17:54

eh? of course you go in with them.
