I'm about to have a bath and shave my legs. It will be the first leg shave since we attended a wedding in the Summer. Prior to that I probably did it this time last year in preparation for dress wearing during Christmas party season.

I do not mind my hairy legs at all. My DH does not recoil away from my legs nor does he go all gooey eyed and puppy like at the sight of my pasty whites becoming hair free once or twice a year. I never have bare legs when wearing dresses so why do I do this?

Who decided fair maidens had to rid themselves of hair in the first place?
I am too ashamed to leave them hairy, I'm far from a Julia Roberts and won't have the press slating my disgusting radical feminist legs but still am too afraid to 'go hairy'

I'll do it if you lot will though. C'mon who's with me? Lets spend the party season this year united as strong women with nice, soft hairy legs.

not the underarms though, loved Aforementioned Julia's stance but dislike that wet, sweaty, unshaven armpit feel

I don't shave my legs unless I'm going to be wearing a skirt without tights. I don't care about hairy legs showing with a swim suit (I also wear a suit with shorts on the lower half, which OMG is so much more comfortable anyway - Decathlon do them, and it completely ends the 'must hoik suit out of arse' thing!). I shave my pits if I am going to wear a sleeveless dress. Armpits only itch while growing back in. Both armpit and leg hair (like all hair really, but particularly all body hair) has a maximum length, which it reaches, and then stops growing.

UnacceptableWidge · 09/12/2013 20:44

I prefer a bald armpit as when I have let it grow (am slovenly at times can go a week easy without a shower, whole other thread, I've read them all!) I tend to sweat excessively.
Make up I do wear when on a night out, I enjoy the making up thing but shaving is a chore.
Oddly enough never shave legs for swimming and don't ever touch my pubic hair...wish I had the umfff to just pull on tights and go out with my long leg hairs keeping my legs extra toasty beneath my tights.

Grumpy grrrr along with you, naughty Grandad

I don't shave my legs at all over autumn/winter. They don't get very hairy though, I have very little body hair, I might feel differently if I had a lot. I don't wear makeup either. Can't be arsed and I look fine as I am.

maddy68 · 09/12/2013 22:17

God no I hate the feel of hairy legs, I shave mine every day even in the winter lol

ILetHimKeep20Quid · 09/12/2013 22:21

I'm manicured, highlighted and made up to perfection.

I shave my legs about 4 times a year unless on holiday where I'll shave before I go then keep on top of it for the fortnight.

stealthsquiggle · 09/12/2013 22:23

OP - leggings. Or opaque tights and boots. Every now and again I think I really should shave my legs. Then I CBA change my mind (unless it is warm enough for cropped trousers and bare feet, when I am not, I admit, brave enough to give hairy legs and hobbit toes free rein).

Mia4 · 09/12/2013 22:47

Sorry but not my thing thanks, I'll stick with my onsie for warmth in winter :)

Also I have to wear a tights and jeans a lot in winter and long hair or stubbles tends to aggravate.

You don't have to shave though OP, why bother if you don't like- whether seen or not? I shave despite not being seen at all in winter, because i choose to. Go with what you want and for some folks who also don't like to shave check out the lj community 'fuck_shaving'

I'm another one so let's it grow wild and free.
And your thread title sounds like a line from a song I vaguely remember but may have never heard. Grin

Writerwannabe83 · 09/12/2013 23:05

I shave my legs every week, I can't be hairy!!! Grin

redshifter · 09/12/2013 23:11

I would love to wear eyeliner and nail varnish like I did in the eighties. But I am 45 now and I just haven't got the bottleto buck the trend.
Society is not ready for it.

I would look silly to most people.

My workplace wouldn't accept it.

Nor would my friends and family.

I am just going to conform but I do feel grumpy about it.

FastWindow · 09/12/2013 23:13

I only wish I had the time.

I'd give more of a shite if dh did maybe, but let's just say it's not a deal breaker if we get horizontal.

I do find I smell a bit if I don't shave my pits. Handy, is like my pits give me the heads up so I don't have to check!!

Plus if I'm first in the bath.... Well that's just rude Grin

scarlettsmummy2 · 09/12/2013 23:14

I shave my legs every other day when I am in the bath. Don't bother with foam and it takes about thirty seconds. Don't understand why it is seen as a hassle to be honest and smooth legs just feel nicer.

monicalewinski · 09/12/2013 23:33

YABU to shave!

If you are hair-ridding then you must epilate, it is the only way!

I do my pits regular, but my legs only every few weeks - the growth isn't annoying when you epilate as it's not stubbly.

whereisshe · 09/12/2013 23:50

I never shave my legs, can't be bothered and it always gives me a shaving rash. Every so often I deign to wax (although mostly just my ankles so no hair visible when work trousers ride up a bit!). I do wax my armpits, otherwise they smell, but that's just once a month or so. No other hair removal as I don't see the point, DH doesn't care and no one else sees it.

Grumpy, I can't believe your FIL. She's 6!!! I would have made him leave :(

lljkk · 10/12/2013 12:45

I never used to but started to in last 2 yrs (since I turned 45). Am waiting for the fur to go silvery & thin & then maybe I'll get away with it again. Xmas Wink

lljkk · 10/12/2013 12:45

I don't grumble, though. Don't really get grumbling. Confused
