Is DHbu using dirty frying pan?

DH cooks breakfast every Saturday morning.
I discovered today that if the frying pan has been used on Friday night and not washed (we tend to leave Fri non-dishwasher dishes til the morning) he will just use it without washing it.
He sometimes wipes it round with kitchen roll but that's it.
My first thought was Urgh but actually, I'm really not that bothered.

He's been doing it for ages and it's never adversely affected me.
But I think other people would probably think this is disgusting and insist he start washing the pan first.
So - is DH b disgustingly u to do it? And am I b disgustingly u to not really care?

If my oh made me a cooked breakfast every weekend I wouldn't care if he cooked it on a dustbin lid!!
Carry on and enjoy. Neither of you abu.

Nah! Frying kills off the germs...

Plus its probably built up a nice natural non-stick coating...

Merguez · 07/12/2013 12:02

Nope. I would not wash up a frying pan if it just had a bit of fat left in it. I would reuse it.

Anyway too much washing is bad for certain types of pan.

DoYouLikeMyBaubles · 07/12/2013 12:04

I'd do it. I sometimes re-use the oil, it tastes better.

redshifter · 07/12/2013 12:05

It wouldn't bother me.

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 07/12/2013 12:05

My dad uses his for ages without cleaning it. Its horrible. Twice i wouldnt worry about Grin

Doubletroublemummy2 · 07/12/2013 12:05

depends what was in it

WorraLiberty · 07/12/2013 12:07

I don't think it's disgusting, I'd just rub a bit of kitchen roll around it.

GirlWithTheDirtyShirt · 07/12/2013 12:10

My mum rarely washed our frying pan when I was a kid. I think it was the type?

Iamsparklyknickers · 07/12/2013 12:14

As long as there aren't huge chunks of whatever was cooked before then I'm all for it.

Don't proper cooks save fat to reuse?

Cool, thanks.
Always nice to have potentially questionable habits ok-ed by MN Smile

there are frying pans where part of it's working is not wash them in detergent but just to wipe of after using, they will rust otherwise

those are heavy bottomed ones like de Buyer one I have

mousmous · 07/12/2013 12:21

hinbu
I do the same. I will wipe the pan with kitchen paper once it's warm to remove gristly bits.
any getms wil be zapped in the heat.
my parents never wash their pans, only wipe them with kitchen paper after cooking, apparently it keeps the stainless steel pans non- stick.

NigellasLeftNostril · 07/12/2013 12:29

depends what has been in it really - if just some bacon fat then fine, if a vindaloo then not. - also if it is cast iron it shouldn't really be washed without 're-seasoning' afterwards.
