To ask you all what I want for Xmas?

MTBMummy · 05/12/2013 09:40

This is a first world problem, I appreciate it and how lucky I am to have people who want to buy me things that I want

I keep getting family asking me what I want for Xmas this year (I'm not complaining about that at all - it's lovely that they ask for ideas)

I've no idea what budget they have in mind, but my normal go to ideas are all out as I'm pregnant.

We've also recently moved house, so all my birthday presents were house stuff, so I would like something just for me. We also have all the baby stuff we need from DD

So what would you ask for if you were last trimester pregnant, didn't have a sweet tooth, couldn't ask for booze or nice nuts/cheese as DP would devour it before I got a look in. I'm feeling utterly unimaginative

Thanks all

I'm in the same situation as you. Will be 36 weeks pregnant on Christmas Day, already have all the baby stuff sorted.
Family keep asking and I just keep telling people they really don't need to buy me anything. When people insist though, I tell them I'm happy with chocolates. A few family members have also suggested vouchers, so I've given ideas of a few shops they'd be useful for if they were to get me vouchers. Would this work?

MTBMummy · 05/12/2013 09:52

Thanks Babysealion Vouchers may be the way to go, I do probably need to get my hair cut before the baby arrives

I hate the fact that they think I'm being a Bah-humbug about Christmas just because I haven't a clue what I want.

I love Christmas and I am looking forward to it, but I also find it's more about DD now than the adults

Apparently my suggestion of getting me a goat sponsorship was silly

I would ask for a really nice coffee table (maybe Taschen, doesn't have to be expensive!) book on something you like. Something without too much text and loads of photos so you can flick through it when you're tired.

Magazine subscription

Dyou want book titles? Grin

Contribution towards a new coat, boots

Would this be too cheeky- maybe a restaurant meal with that person?

DirtyDancingCleanLiving · 05/12/2013 09:57

I've asked df for the Game of Thrones box set (only the first two series are out so far). I've read all the books and now want to watch.

I have also dropped a couple of hints about the babyliss automatic curl thing (can't remember what it's called but it's on loads of ads at the moment) but it's well over £100 so think I'm pushing my luck!

MommyBird · 05/12/2013 09:59

I was 30 weeks pregnant at Christmas and i had a new bag, some make up and some pjs/slipper. Little bits like that!

I was 5 months pregnant on my birthday last year, i had candles, mum-to-be pampering kit, went out for a meal, make up. and my dh took me on a mini spree to ikea as i'm abit inlove with the place

Hope that helps a little bit :)

DirtyDancingCleanLiving · 05/12/2013 10:03

What about treatment vouchers? Haircut/wax/nails/facial? Are you a reader? Books/kindle vouchers? Any films you've seen that you fancy the look of that you could ask for the DVD?

MTBMummy · 05/12/2013 10:05

I did consider books, can you gift kindle books?

OOOh box sets... There must be something I've not watched with pregnancy exhaustion that I can catch up on during mat leave...

Hairdryer - thank you - I need a new one, my current one is almost 20 years old and rubbish

Please keep the ideas coming - thank you

Callani · 05/12/2013 10:26

Instead of boxsets, can someone get you a LoveFilm / Netflix subscription? Or maybe everyone chip in for it? It's the best thing ever - seasons upon season of tv shows and films. Fantastic.

bebopanddoowop · 05/12/2013 10:32

Books and records is always my go-to. I can never have too many. If people ask me what I'd like, I say oh I really don't mind, but if you want some inspiration you can look up other peoples wishlists on Amazon Wink

Callani · 05/12/2013 10:33

Also, can you ask for something nice and pampering?

Top of my list this year is the Liz Earle cleanse and polish facewash with the cloth thing. It's like a little spa treatment every day... bliss.

nomoreminibreaks · 05/12/2013 10:43

What about some lovely handcream? After I had DS and was breastfeeding and changing lots of nappies I had the worst dry skin on my hands. It's always on my list of things to buy for a new mum.

MTBMummy · 05/12/2013 11:58

ooh hand cream is definitely going on the list, with DD I ended up looking like a bare knuckle boxer

You lot are brilliant! Thank you

Ok, this is a BIT personal, but just an idea Smile

I've just ordered myself this - had a similar bundle given to me after the birth of my first child, and found it great, particularly the soothing spray:

They do a large range of individual products too.

AngelaDaviesHair · 05/12/2013 12:20

Cashmere-lined leather gloves;
A huge box of fudge;
Jo Malone or similarly posh scented bath oil;
Dinner out in a really good restaurant;
A beautiful make-up compact, like Dior or Chanel eyeshadow sets;
A nice framed family photo (if it is an old one with humour or sentimental value, so much the better);
Cinema vouchers (go now, before the baby gets here!).

meganorks · 05/12/2013 13:08

Foot massage. Nice pajamas for when you are up in the night with baby

Mumoftwoyoungkids · 05/12/2013 13:14

Dh is getting me a radio as it can be a bit quiet and lonely at home with a baby.

VesuviusPoovius · 05/12/2013 13:26

A really nice fluffy warm dressing gown, lots of vouchers - perhaps somewhere like John Lewis so you can shuffle around in an aspirational way Grin

I surf other people's Amazon wishlists too Blush

GeordieCherry · 05/12/2013 13:29

Proper pregnancy massage
Fancy pants hair do
Shellac nails
Leg & foot massage
Stuff that you would like to eat with a hands off sign for DP
Kindle
Magazine subscription (possibly on the kindle!)

fay144 · 05/12/2013 13:32

I've taken the excuse of being pregnant (so too hard to buy clothes for) to ask everyone for money towards a really big present I want. I figure it will be a while before I can justify being quite so extravagant towards myself again!

(it's a telescope - I've always wanted one, just moved to an ideal house for it, and I figure if I don't get it now, I never will...)

So are there any big items you fancy that would be too expensive to ask for, but that you could get everyone to contribute to?

MTBMummy · 05/12/2013 14:25

Fay I really want/need a brompton folding bike when I return to work, but was going to worry about that come my birthday (a couple of weeks before I return to work) but I can see your point, it's a lot of money, so vouchers towards that would be nice.

I've never thought about surfing other peoples wish lists, I did years ago direct MIL to mine and there was a lovely black skirt I wanted on there, she even called my mum and said not to buy it as she was getting it. Come Xmas day I opened a size XL (I was a 6/8 back them) black petticoat... I've been a bit weary ever since Grin

I love the postpartum kit, , although I may share that one with just DP - not sure I can bare FIL's face if he saw that :-)

You've all got some great ideas - things I would never considered thank you

Ugg slippers. That is what I've asked for myself.
Can second the good hand cream recommendation. I love L'Occitane brand. My hands never recovered, so don't forget to use it regularly.

I also love Clarins relaxing bath\shower gel and Clarins Body Lotion,

kelper · 05/12/2013 17:28

Bodicea · 05/12/2013 19:31
