To the village where my mum and sister both live. There are no sandbags to be found anywhere...what can they do to prepare apart from putting things upstairs and turning off electricity etc....feel helpless as can't get down there...no car, it's 6 miles away and I won't be able to pick up kids if I get bus.,,it takes too long to get back etc.

I think I can guess approx location (wont say where). I think that there has been so much focus on coastal areas. Not good if the banks are already being topped.

I'm listening to the press conference on bbc norfolk:

Police: Saying worse than 2008 in Great Yarmouth when there was nearly a breach. Police visiting 9000 homes to urge evacuation. Some respite centres for people who cant stay with friends/relatives.
If cant evacuate due to ill health contact police or council who can aid with evacuation.
Talking about 3 tides 10:45, 10am , 9pm.

Council chap: 6 sites for sandbags around the borough, 856100 is number to call for advice. 50,000 sand bags in stock, 20,000 been used in two hours.

police: dozens of police officers arriving, level of police officers will cover for whole flood period. Also nhs and voluntary orgs helping. Have 1500 places in respite centres but looking for more, so please try and stay at friends instead. Very least move upstairs.
