To ask about soft play in bishops stortford

Nc for this.
I fancy going Christmas shopping in bishops stortford because it looks pretty, but ds is desperate to go to soft play. So i thought we could do both. It looks like there used to be one there, but it might be closed. Can any of you MNErs help? Is there a soft play here?
Thanks in advance.

Playbarn at Sawbridgeworth is the closest I think, there isn't a soft play place in BS.

GypsyFloss · 05/12/2013 08:57

There's no soft play anymore, the nearest would be Sawbridgeworth or perhaps Braintree direction I think. Stortford is very busy at this time of year ,with slightly bonkers parking so go early if you want a space in the multi-storey and avoid Thursdays ( market day) and Saturdays at the moment.

Freddiefrog · 05/12/2013 09:04

There's also Coconuts in Great Dunmow

Stortford isn't great for shopping though is it?

Luckystar1 · 05/12/2013 09:06

Saffron Walden is prettier. No idea about soft play though!

Noideawheretotakethedcs · 05/12/2013 09:09

Oh. Ok. Thanks. Might reconsider. Thank you for your help.

how old is your DS?

playbarn is great for under 5s, kinda shit for older kids. Coconuts is possibly the coldest place on earth (other than Cambridge station), but better for older kids.

Kveta · 05/12/2013 09:18

there is soft play in SW too, can't mind the name, but people rave about it.

Also, what kind of cultural black hole do you live in to consider a trip to Stortford for shopping?!!

GypsyFloss · 05/12/2013 09:40

It's our new Aldi Kveta. It has made us a cultural metropolis Grin

Luckystar1 · 05/12/2013 09:51

What's it like gypsy?

Kveta · 05/12/2013 09:56

:o Gypsy

I need to go to Aldi later actually. It has improved this town no end :o

EmmaGellerGreen · 05/12/2013 10:08

I need to take a trip to Aldi too! Saffron Walden is much nicer than Stortford and I'm sure there is wordplay called Tumbledowns?

AmyMumsnet · 05/12/2013 10:09

Hi there,

You might find some useful suggestions on your local site, here.

namechange74 · 05/12/2013 10:13

yes it's tumbledowns soft play in SW, on the Shire Hill industrial estate.

Noideawheretotakethedcs · 05/12/2013 13:48

Ah well. I am visiting a friend near sawbridge tbh. And I was driven through BS town centre the other day and thought it looked quaint. Blush
My last shopping trip was locally at Westfield Grin

I did take the dcs to a soft play nearby actually, just got back.
Whole other thread Grin

I agree. Couldn't think of anywhere less uninspiring. Grin

Noideawheretotakethedcs · 05/12/2013 14:12

All I can say, in my defence, is that compared to south west London, it looked nice and oldy worldly. Blush Grin

Anyway, after soft play I need a rest.
Might try SW tomorrow if that's good.
Thanks all.

Luckystar1 I don't know, I have not managed to get parking in or near it yet!

Noidea Saffron Walden is very pretty and charming, with antique shops, decent charity shops and gift shops.

Another alternative if you have a car is Van Hages garden centre near Ware. It's about 15-20 mins drive from Sawbridgeworth and is fabulous. Beautiful Christmas things, vey nice cafe and possibly the best Father Christmas ever. It is hugely popular with all ages and in my opinion well worth a visit.
