to not buy a furby for my 4yo?

The kids wrote santa letters when with my mum one day and sent them off, all well and good. Both children asked for a "furby boom" - DD1 is nearly 7 and DD2 is just turned 4.

Neither me or my mum even knew furbies were still a thing, so we looked them up and THEY COST A BLOODY FORTUNE!

Not only that, but they look far too complex for DD2 anyway, who is still into Thomas and Numberjacks and so on, and breaks things quite a lot too, because she still has tantrums and gets over excited and runs into walls etc.

I can just about afford to buy them one each, but it will be a stretch, and everything else will have to be mega cheap.

I've tried the "Santa can only bring one big present and you want something with Thomas on, don't you?" which just got tears, because Santa is magic...

HELP!

They do stuffed toy furbys. Dd wants one but has no idea what they do. She's thrilled with her happy meal version so we're getting her a stuffed toy one. Win win. She gets her furby. We're not forming out an arm and a leg for a toy that won't be used beyond Christmas Day.

Another vote for the McDonald's ones. My older DS has a proper Furby Boom. My younger one (age 3) has a McDonald's one. He still thinks it's a Furby and doesn't mind that it's not furry, doesn't talk etc. He can imagine all of that stuff. They've made a cardboard box into a Furby house and the expensive one just lies in there asleep most of the time (thank god! annoying creature).

This is why we do not encourage list writing in my house.

£40 in B&M bargains at the mo

Extortionate and hideous. We always knew that Father Christmas couldn't possibly bring you everything on your list and I can't remember it ever being a problem. Great excuse to avoid crappy and overpriced stuff like this if you ask me!

I'm the other end of the spectrum really. DD fell in love with two Furby's at a charity event back in April (long story lol) so my Mum bought her one for her third birthday in June. She loves it, even now she's got the bloody thing sat next to us on the sofa and she's "feeding it" with the app. She's also got two of the little Happy Meal Furbies and she carries them all around like a little family. Yeah they are expensive but she's loved hers and played with it for 6 months now so it was worth it in our case.

Incidentally, she's asked Father Christmas for a Chihuahua, which she most definitely will not be getting.

I got a furby boom for my GD from Tesco, doubled up club card points and had £5 voucher.

Your choice but you can't really buy one for the oldest but not the youngest.
