From coughing. I kept her off school, but she is completely fine now! Shouting running around ect.

I rang school this morning and they said she can't go in until Thursday. But I really want to send her tomorrow. Ds will be in nursery and tbh I could do with some me time lol.

Should I send her?

I don't think you could or should. A cough bad enough to make her vomit should be nursed at home for a couple of days.

HedgehogsRevenge · 03/12/2013 16:54

Probably shouldn't have mentioned she was sick. I mean if it was a vomiting bug then obviously yes but ds used to gag/vomit quite easily due to having reflux as a baby/toddler. I mentioned he'd been sick to the nursery once and got told the same as you. I learned not to mention it again. Unfortunately school receptionists don't differentiate between being sick due to coughing v's vomiting bug.

My DS is often sick when he first gets a cough or cold. I don't think the 48 hour rule is relevant, because that's to prevent infection from stomach bugs. If he's well enough I would send him to preschool. Unfortunately the school have said you can't, so you really can't send her.

Justforlaughs · 03/12/2013 16:55

Tbh I probably wouldn't have told them she had been sick - 48 rule and all that. Just that she was off with a cough, and then sent her back but you've told them now and they've said no. If she's fine in the morning (and she may relapse overnight) then find something nice to do together and make the most of the fact that you can do something while it's quiet.

Your mistake was to tell school that she had vomited. There is nothing you can do about it now.

Can you park her in front of some films tomorrow while you do whatever it is you need/want to do?

Next time don't say she was sick then you can make a judgement yourself. Schools tend to always assume sickness is contagious and I do understand why but as a mum with a son who can get sick due to digestive issues rather than illness I keep it to myself if I don't think he's contagious.
