AIBU to Velcro dd to the wall? (Light-hearted)

My dd 2yrs is generally very excited about life in general, but seriously she's in hyper-drive with christmas.
I popped into the local supermarket, she danced round the isles to Jingle Bells. Hugged the tinsel, announced that the selection boxes were "all so beautiful". There is literally not a minute she doesn't not talk about it.
The talking alone I can take, but it's the volume and the octave! The local shopping centre have gone with pink lights and she just stood in the middle if the walk way, jumping up and down shouting "IT'S ALL GONE PINK!" That section of the shopping centre actually went a bit quiet, sometimes I think only dogs can hear her she's so over excited.

Here's the thing, I have 4 weeks of this nonsense and if she hugs the Christmas tree at Sainsburys once more we are going to get barred.
WIBU to make her a Velcro suit and stick some more Velcro to the wall and stick her to it?

It may not stop the noise but it will dim it if she's in the other room eh? Also lots of exercise for her as she tries to unstick herself. She loves Tinkerbell and pixie dust so it would also be a chance for her to experience flying in a fashion. Plus my house will be really really tidy. If I don't put her in the living room, it means I can get rid of that malignant little bastard Peppa Pig off my TV screen and watch Its a Wonderful Life with a nice biscuit and hot coffee.

The only downside is, my dh says the authorities will take a dim view

AIBU?

Make it a pink and sparkly velcro suit and she'll be happy :o

You might want to leave the jingle bells off her toes, though. Can you imagine the noise she could make with those?!

ouryve · 02/12/2013 18:54

And so many of us here are dealing with pre-christmas angst and anguish in our children, that it's quite refreshing to see that someone's having the opposite experience if only so we can collectively point and laugh

frizzcat · 02/12/2013 19:00

Oh don't worry ds will provide the angst - it's his Christmas play next week which 30mins of sheer terror that he holds it together Wink

Dd has been banned as the excitement of seeing ds perform would send her over the edge

I've reported myself too so this will be moved to AIBU

Hi,

Just to let you know that we're moving this into AIBU.

frizzcat · 02/12/2013 19:10

Thanks MNHQ

YABU to qualify that a post about velcroing small children to walls is lighthearted. I hope that was surplus to requirements.

AliceinWinterWonderland · 02/12/2013 19:30

If you can find Velcro strong enough to hold up both a 4yo and 7yo (separately of course, so they're not within arm's length of each other), please let me know. Xmas Grin

kelper · 02/12/2013 19:47

Gosh this sounds like ds5, he is uber excitable at the best of times, Christmas has sent him into outer space!

frizzcat · 02/12/2013 19:49

Too close to the ears there PurplePidgin
quietly muses whether she can tie dd to dh

kelper. It's like super Christmas excitement on drugs in this house. Ds 9yrs loves Christmas but he was quieter in his excitement until Christmas Eve - which is fair enough.
They are quite funny and it's nice seeing it through their eyes ...... But I'm exhausted abd it's only the 2nd!

JaneFonda · 02/12/2013 19:55

Oh OP, she sounds lovely!

It may be loud at times, but really, enjoy and embrace the time whilst she's still so little and in love with it all! :)

NoComet · 02/12/2013 19:56

YANBU
DD1, at 2, used to climb absolutely everything and I mean everything, chairs, tables, bookcases, fences, gates, the school wall bars, trees, other people's walls, shop displays, the big kids part of the park, ladders. If their was an opportunity to have her feet off the ground she would find it.

She might have been quite happy Velcroed to the wall.

NoComet · 02/12/2013 19:56

There

IsThatTrue · 02/12/2013 20:00

When I was a teenager I desperately wanted a Velcro suit and Velcro room so I could throw myself at walls and stick Grin

Surely if she likes it then the authorities can't do a lot?

JellyBabiesSaveLives · 02/12/2013 20:02

YABU. Velcro won't work. You need gaffer tape.

seafoodudon · 02/12/2013 20:02

YANBU if I can borrow said contraption on a weekly basis, and year round. I'd like it from 4-6 on Sunday evenings please - DH and I are always exhausted from weekend activities by this point, and usually back in from whatever we've been doing but too early to begin getting the DCs to bed.

Timeforabiscuit · 02/12/2013 20:03

Hhhmmm tricky

Fixed to the wall is probably a no no

Have you considered a play cage constructed of candy canes?

PurplePidjin · 02/12/2013 20:04

Our r+r is dp's, i prefer the ones that really tie. His has Jolly Rogers on!

HoHolepew · 02/12/2013 20:05

She sounds fantastic.

Of course I'm saying that because shes not mine Grin.

frizzcat · 02/12/2013 20:12

She is funny and I absolutely know these are memories to treasure but by 2pm today I was ready for a darkened room and ear plugs - there's only so many times that a person can sing jingle bells in a lifetime

The smallest person THIS photo looks comfy

frizzcat · 02/12/2013 21:22

Time I don't think you're on my side at all. I'll agree to a candy cane cage if you agree to look after her once she's eaten it Xmas Grin
