To feel so sad

Alisvolatpropiis · 30/11/2013 17:57

I have been told some very sad news* about someone I know and feel really upset for them. I don't know them well but have found myself being a bit tearful about it. Is this normal?

*it isn't my news to tell and I don't want to put their private business on the Internet, just asking if I am being unreasonable to feel so sad about it.b

If it is sad news then of course you are going to be sad about it.
I hope everything works out ok xx

Yes, of course it is normal to feel sad - you know the person, you know the situation - I would go so far as to say it would be very odd if you didn't feel sad.

An acquaintance of mine died recently, we weren't particularly good friends but he was a lovely neighbour & someone I was aware of within our small community - I found myself crying and being very, very sad about it. Sad.

It shows you have empathy, and that's a good thing Alis.

Thank you both. I wasn't sure if I was being a bit over the top.

Sadly it's not the kind of situation that can have a happy ending. An utterly tragic death.
