AIBU to be p***ed off at short notice cancellation

Person was due to visit this avo. All been arranged for a couple of weeks, kids excited, day planned around it, etc. Just after 1pm a text arrives saying next week would be better for them as they have something on later.
No hint of apology.
I'm not saying I never forget stuff or never have to cancel. But I'm usually sorry, and if I was pulling out knowing my visit was important to someone at such short notice I would ring and grovel!
Or am is super sensitive?

YANBU, cancelling at short notice unless due to an unforeseen emergency is pretty rude IMO.

Sleepingbunnies · 29/11/2013 21:47

That would piss me off. Especially if I had disappointed kids because of it!

Idespair · 29/11/2013 21:49

I'd tell them I'm busy next week. I don't bother with people who do this sort of thing.

toomuchpink · 29/11/2013 21:58

Glad you think so. The casual "any week will do" bit of the message made me wonder if it was just me... I wouldn't mind too much a text like that the night before... but two hours ahead.

Absolutely. One DT kept asking if the person was coming over and over. My DD1 said: mum you shouldn't have told them she was coming. And she was right.

That would annoy me too, things happen yes, but 2 hours notice is just inconsiderate without a valid reason.

brettgirl2 · 29/11/2013 22:01

yanbu although it can go too far the other way. One friend was once so worried about cancelling she offered to come round 2 hours after finishing the vomming stage of a bug Shock . I told her not to worry Grin

Idespair - I did exactly that. This person has been good to us in the past, but we've not seen them for a while.

Yup, I am busy the vague 'we will arrange something another time' needs to go on.

toomuchpink · 29/11/2013 22:06

brettgirl2, ha ha. With you on that one.

That's just plain rude. Particularly as you'd probably got food in.
