My mum managed to get Asda to replace everything in her baking cupboard because of flour mites. Might be worth complaining to whoever you bought the flour from. My mum is a serial complainer though they were probably just happy to be rid of her

I always look really closesly at my flour etc and have never seen anything moving. Those pics don't compare the size of the mite and the flour.

But I have never had flour mites, wardrobe moths, rice weevils or other crawlies .

Our old house had silverfish on the kitchen floor in the morning but they didn't seem to do any harm?

MonkeyGoneToHeaven Its all processed food that's allowed a certain % of added 'protein' - but seriously don't google it (I just did :( )

We had mealworms once. We had to remove the shelving and brackets as the larvae had worked their way behind them. Awful awful day. Ally flour is frozen now.

Had this happen to me - felt horrible! Chuck everything and buy some airtight containers - store all the new flour etc. in those!

When I lived in India proper self raising was so precious I used to sieve out the weevils. Am a bit nauseous now thinking about it

I've never come across them and I have very low standards but I do a lot of baking so flour, sugar etc get used up quickly. My baking is much praised.

I think there may be something on the peck of dirt theory. I grew up on a small farm where we used our own unpasteurised milk, cheese and butter, very free range eggs and hens and fruit and vegetables grown in soil fertilised with very natural products and I'm never ill.

Consequently I wasn't terribly fussy in my own home and DS is also extremely healthy and allergy free.

I am a bit lax, because UK food is so expensive here I have tweezered ants out of the imported Hovis before.
